Does anyone have the GPS coordinates to the Sabena plane crash? It crashed about 60 miles from Gander on Sept 18, 1946.

Don't know them off the top of my head, but if you use Google Earth, you can definitely pick out the site and get the coords that way.

If you decide to try to get there be sure to keep us informed!

Good luck,
Steve

Been there before without GPS but with someone who know the area. Got them from a pilot but really want to confirm them before making trip, will keep you informed.

Took me awhile but I actually found the plane using Google Satellite maps, had an idea where it was located. Anyway for anyone who is interested in visiting this crash site here are the coordinates, N48° 41' 30.62", W54° 55' 21.09". If you go to Google maps and enter these coordinates, then zoom in you can actually see the plane.

Was it difficult getting there before? Any sort of trail or did you have to break one?

The first time my ex BIL took us in, he lives in Gander and had a cabin on Gambo Pond. Most of that trip from what I remember was pretty much good going. When we go this year I'm thinking we will leave from Glenwood go around Gander Lake using the GPS. That trip will be around 30 miles one way but I have no idea about the trails or anything like that in that area of the province. I think that makes it more interesting.

I'm guessing you never made it there this winter???
