you could always drop a tooth or two on the top gear. you will lose some off the top end but not much. Look into a clutch kit also makes a big difference.

FTT is right about gearing. I talked to two guys who put 1.75" tracks on and dropped the top tooth by 2; both were happy with performance increase. Skis lift at 90+.

Myself and two friends each bought 500SS's last year. Each machine had a very different personality even though they were identical. Pay close attention to your belt height and carb tuning. Do you have a dead spot just over 5000 RPM? Does it stumble a bit down low? If so, you may not be getting all your rated power. Tuning needed... I was not happy with mine off factory floor. After a quick carb shim it was a totally different machine.
