Those of you that have picked up your 2010 models have you noticed if there is a spot for the spare belt yet?

Just picked mine up. Belt to be stored on the right side where there is a soft black flexible wire conduit intended to hold the belt.

I am not sure about the 2010's but p. 97 of the '09 owners manual shows the storage location ....it's on the right side (sitting on the sled) of the engine compartment just ahead of the muffler. You should have a frame support with what looks like plastic wire protector on it .... you are supposed to roll the belt in half and tuck it in behind that.

2010 X 600etec = remove the hood ,velcro strap on metal holder located on cross support above muffler.hope that helps

I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't care to smash my spare belt into a pulp to make it fit. I did this last year, and now the spare has a nice formed bend in it.

I put my new spare into a saddle bag.

Why cant you put your belt here?

Why isnt there a belt holder here already?

I think I'll come up w/ a more permanent solution.

The spare belt location on the 1200 works fine. I don't know what the big fuss is all about? Must be you guys have nothing else to complain about. I have almost 3 thousand miles on my original belt and it still looks new. I'll bet I'll never need my spare. While your complaining why don't you whine about no spark plug holders even though you probably will never need them. The guys with 2 strokes could complain about no spare piston and ring holder! laugh.gif

Make sure it's secure. The spare on our machine wasn't in deep enough and flopped a bit. THought I smelt burning rubber and sure enough nickel sized chunk melted out of the belt from the exhaust.

It doesn't take rocket science to install it securely. Mine has been there for 3 thousand miles and hasn't moved at all. When installed properly the belt is a long way from anything that will melt it. Maybe you should have your dealer install it for you? rolleyes.gif

6000 miles on both of ours and had zero issues with the spare location. Works fine.

It's not the location that is the problem, but I am questioning the long term stress on placing the spare belt into that shape.
