We cruised up to the top of Jefferson Notch about 2pm on Tuesday October 13, 2009. There was about 3-5 inches at the parking lot. We buzzed around for a bit. It was actually ok, not quite like Pittsburg in February though. But hey we were sledding (maybe the first to in NH for the 09/10 season) and it was Oct 13. A couple hikers cheered us on. Duke ran around and tried to bite our skiis. We stopped at Fabians for a brew and wings on the way out. Great start for the season !!!!

Lucky the fish cops and the forest service were not around or it could have been an expensive ride.

True though, aren't you supposed to wait for 6 or 8 inches of snow.

none of us want to wait, but is riding this time of year on unopen trails really worth the potential loss of trails?

3 yrs ago I rode up there right after thanksgiving. There was about 4-6 inches of snow. drove right up to a fish and game cop to ask him a question about trails and he said nothing to me about riding early!!! If there is snow RIP IT UP!!!!

For the record, we were respectful of the environment. We unloaded, and took a quick cruise on the frozen gravel. Basically we just wanted to get a good picture. Under the conditions that was all we could do.
Speaking of the environment, did you know that the 600SDI gets 17+ mpg and has low emissions. With a 10.6 gallon fuel tank that's better than 180 miles before refueling. And the sled uses like no oil. Better than 500 miles on an oil tank.
Nice when we're cruising the groomers up in Pittsburg...
Bring on the snow!

the tough part is that while you were respectful, will the next yahoo be? and then what happens? too many people are already given bad names to snomobilers, just wouldnt want to be one more person adding to it. see you all in the north in less then two months

That's awesome and good for you guys! Normally we make the trip to Bear Notch Road each year before we starting riding the trails. It's been a long time since I've been to Jefferson Notch but the place where you guys rode, do you turn down that road next to Fabians or is it somewhere else? Bring on the snow!

PITTSBURG N.H. - Fired up the three sleds Saturday(10/24)morning and delivered them to the wrench for preseason servicing. The smoke never smelled so good. Let it snow-let it snow. I feel like putting a Xmas carol on, instead of decorating for Halloween. Come on December 15. PS...The rivers / water table are higher now than they were in the spring. We woke to a coating of snow on Saturday but it rained heavy until early this morning (10/25).
