We are looking to connect with some fellow BOONDOCKERS & FRESH POWDER RIPPERS...............

We do some short trips in the Bellaire / Mancelona areas but the greatest rides have been in Da UP.

Specifically, Strongs (North East of Trout Lake) and almost all off trail riding--off the rail grade and North & South of M-28>

We both live in SouthEast Michigan.


If you need to go as fast as you can down the trail to hit the next bar.....If you don't like getting up at 6am to get ready for a day of POW....If you don't like eating your lunch out in the bush....If you hate fresh powder over the hood.....If you can't stand stopping and playing in untouched sweet spots....If you need to rack off 250 miles a day...If you don't like making new tracks through the woods....If you don't like scouting out new locations..............etc.

YOU WILL PROBABLY NOT LIKE Boondockin & Rippin fresh powder all day.

BUT if you already have the passion or want to experience it.....LETS Braap!

I have a place in Strongs rented for this winter again so I'll be in the area. I ride a shorty either a Nytro or XP but there isn't a place in the U.P. that I can get stuck.

I would be interested BUT it is waaaayyyy too (two) dark and cold at 6am for me.
Plus I have very high dining standards so while food in the bush may be a nice snack it is certainly not a meal. I do cook a mean steak off my portable grill in front of the hotel room though.

If you are interested in getting started around noon and taking 10 minute beer breaks every hour shoot me a PM.

I ride ALOT in da UP, near Paradise usually. All we do is boondock. I ride XP Gade all set up for POW, as my riding buddy's all have crossover or mountain sleds. If we put on 35 miles in a day, we did alot of riding....... offtrail that is. Nomally 1 bumper is sacraficed to a tree each weekend by someone.

I live just north of Detroit. I lost one riding buddy cause he doesn't know how to tell time and I just got fed up with him holding everybody up while he gets extra sleep. We like to get up early, ride hard til dark and then hit the cabin for a good meal and leave the night riding to the drunks.

We will have to hook up this season.Somebody said OFFTRAIL!

- re: Paradise...we found some great untouched POW the last few years, just south of Paradise off I believe 123. Dido on the milage per day, sleeping beauties, great meals & night riders.

- Nitrosman: Where abouts in Strongs? We have been staying at Pat & Steves (the General Store) for a few years now.
I love my shorty with 1.5" paddle, handle bar loop, brand new topper and dropped a tooth up top (thinking about going to a 24t).


Anyone familiar with area 51 (what we call it)??? It's a test track South of M-28. We plan to go deep this year and head southweswt towards M-123/Trout Lake.

I've got the trailer at Pat & Steve's rented for this year again so you'll see me there quite a bit. There's six of us renting it this year but a few of them might be limited due to finances on how much they can ride so there may be times when I just head up by myself so I may be looking for riding partners. I was riding a 09 XP 800r all black last year which I still have but I added a Nytro for this year too. Gonzo, you and I discussed the trailer last year in January, Honeymoon suite and all.

I was with my bud on the F7 Cat ext. The 2 of us had the cabin next door in January and then with some other guys late Feb. The cat had a freak accident last ride of the year....foot in the suspention, broke his Tib and needed a lag bolt through the angle. Update; Tib healed, lag bolt out and he is ready to rip it in da bush.

I live in Birmingham. We should get together locally, grab a beer Braap (chat) it up. Maybe we'd be able to run up sometime together?

How the heck did his foot get in the front suspension? I'm looking for a few guys that might be interested in doing some riding in Ontario this year. Some of us might be getting together to watch the UFC fight this saturday at a local bar so I'll let you know if that's a go. Do you have a trailer? I usually just throw mine in the back of my truck and go.

We were in an awesome gravel pit 5 miles north of the pat n steve's...he was scouting a hill and came in a little hot, (knowing it had a sharp dropped off on the back side ) he got on the brake and stopped...the snow had thined out on this side of the hill and the skis did not plant, and she started to roll. He tried jumping back off of her....no jump and foot in susension. As it rolled, it took him with it. Luckely after the first roll, it spit his foot out still attached to his body!

We've rode much more techical stuff than that, it was just his time to get bit.

Ontario might be a bit much. We are not sure on the amount of trips (cash flow) but will for sure be hitting Bellaire/Mancelona for a quick trip and then gotta see Pat & Steve.

We got rid of the 24 footer a few years back, but have access to a couple 3 place trailers.

For sure, let me know about Saturday. Sounds kool.

My buddy's brother Ricky Mcmurry lives up there. Some where around the ski resort. I know how to find it just not street names. We pick up a small trail to the power lines and hit it from there.

I've never laid a sled or a ski track on a golf course and never will. Too much risk of A) getting caught Causing damage to the course that would cost a hit to our sport

Thats why it shocked me when you said Bellaire, nobody knows the good spots unless they are local, and I'd love to keep it that way forever!!!!

Hey, wouldn't mind putting my name on the list. I ride mostly in the Mancelona area due to that is where the friend's cabin is, but I've been wanting to get more into riding off trail. I don't have a ton of experience at it, but I'm a quick learning, pretty athletic.

Well I'm sure I've run into or seen most of you from the Mancetucky area. i have a cabin on southside of mancey. hang @ Bob's Green lantern, Alden Bar and Larrys. Rarley touch a trail to get to any of them except for bobs along the street for a mile. i also head up to Munising alot. lots of good backcountry riding around there too. on my 09 Summit, 1800 miles and about 200 of it on Mi trail.

If you guys want a great experience head out west with me on one of my trips. I have been riding right up till May the last 2 years in WY & CO.

I know the area your talking about in the Up very well as I mostly ride there because my buddies cabin is in RACO just up Ranger RD. We pretty much only hit the trail to go to lunch or dinner, but have had many great days out in the bush with sandwiches or what ever we decide to make in the hot doggers! I ride a 154 summit Hillclimb Edition and one of my budies has a new 600 E-tec renegade and the other has an 05 renegade 600. I can show you some pretty sweet/ secret spots of ours also.

i ride a 2010 summit 146, all offtrail. ride everywhere from gaylord to all over the up. my business lets me have almost the whole winter off so i can ride anytime anywere. keep me in the loop as its hard to find offtrail riders to ride with mid-week.

Headin too Mancelona as well tomorrow after work. stayin at mancelona motel .. ya know just a place to crash ! just two of us though i will be on a blacked out 07 600 mod and my pops is on a GSX always lookin for a group to ride with !

I'm Lookin' to head twards houghton sometime between the 14th and 23rd.. Need some people to ride with, I'm trying to get a few buds to come. Never rode the UP but heard its a blast. Anyone gonna be that way? And FYI... I hate trails.. Love ditches rivers and boodocking. 08 summit 154. Just looking for some good powder riding a little closer to home so I can do more than just one trip a season to find insane snow. I'm from across the pond on the norh shore.
