Well its been since 98 but I've decided to come back to ski doo. I've decidedto start looking for an 04- 06 gade or maybe a machz sold the apex today.I haven't kept up on ski doo so I need help. what should I watch for on these years is there one year that had more motor problems than the other etc. any quick tips would be appreciated.I know how to shop for a used one I'm just not up on all the problems or even the good things that skidoo has had the last few years. Yamaha.....don't they make pianos? Congrats brother! Have an 09 and an 04 and my 04 has been trouble free for close to 5000 miles, and I've beat the "edit for bad language" out of it! The only thing I've had an issue with was a bad heated grip - that's it! I switched from Cat in 04, best thing I ever did - much better quality, fit, and finish. 800HO X on that one - trouble free. Buy one, settle back in your lay-z-boy, drink a cold one, and picture your new DOO with Megan Fox on it!

the rev came out in 03 and by 07 Doo had gotten all the bugs out. In 06 doo had their jetting figured out (previous years had midrange lean condtion) and changed the front suspension ride height which made the 06-07 handle much better on the trails than the 04-05. Also all the 06- 07 sleds came with the new (better) sc-5 rear suspension

Can anyone get even more specific regarding the best choice(s) in used gade 600's? Rode for @20yr but away a long time (last sled: 86 MXLT). Kids grown, done paying for college and time for toys again, but a lot to catch up on. One reason we left sledding was my wife didn't like the "stinky" emissions. So, is a newer gade with E-Tec 600 worth the $? Also, does the 1+1 seat work well and will a 600 ride/pull acceptably well with 175lb+120lb wife on board once in awhile? Is a clean 03 gade a good choice -though outdated the 03's in black caught my eye. Trying to decide whether to look for one 06-07 at $4-6K or go for two older 03 gades at @3K each and tell my wife to pinch her nose. I'm big on reliability, so x-treme's post indicates that 07 may be the best year to look for(?) Is the KBB online price guide reasonably accurate, or is there a better resource to determine fair pricing?

I'm also looking at a Renegade, probably an 06 or 07. Are all of the models capable of having a 1+1 seat -the Ski-doo site doesn't show any on the 07's. Also, would my little wifey (5'"2 110 lbs) be bale to handle an 800?

You can avoid alot of the 2 stroke smoke with the 600 SDI, i would recomend the 06-07 600 SDI renegade You mentioned the 03 gade as a possible choice but the 03 gade was in the old zx chassis and didnt come in the rev chassis till 04 The 600 SDI would handle u and the wife on board without any prob. I used to have the 583 touring sled in 1996 it was a big machine and with 2 people on it did great! The 600SDI has alot (approx 20HP) more HP than the old 583 had

def. the 06 to 07 was the choice for the sdi motors with the better rings .
the motor will be fine for two up riding but he 1+1 seat is not that great for adults, in those years .
the new xp 1+1 seat is much better with the option of the higher backrest
all 8's where great.
i have a 09 etec love it but for two up i take the 06 sdi gtx.
check doo's web site for the seat's and you will see the difference
