I already have a 2.52 pitch track and had planned on avids 9 tooth 2.52 pitch extro drivers, but I am concerned about the intergrity of the axle itself. I have seen their update for strengthening it but I was wondering if anyone has seen, heard of or is doing anything different.

TgC_emoticon142.gif GUYS?????

We have pressed and welded a shaft inside on one sled and left the other one alone and no problems all year with 162"track drag racing and pushing hard in deep powder up chutes.
From my past Turbo sleds are very easy on drive train compared to mod sleds.
180 degree Vmax 4 tears everything apart where turbo Vmax 4 never did anything in years of riding.

Good points for the powder guys Dave, my concerns are on the ice hooking them HARD...AND I MEAN HARD!!!!....you know when 0-60ft times are close to 1 sec...This will be the time when we push the XR chassis to its limits and my concern it breaking shafts, blowing tracks, drive components and crinkling the chassis into a pile of recyclable aluminum. You should come to a few events in the states like the Mach Z shootout, Goldenchild, and the Weenie roast. They sound like they are similar to the runs in the North Bay just shorter, so most guys don't roll them out of the hole. They are on the gas from the word go and that initial ummmphhh is what I am concerned about! I have never heard of anyone having problems but I also don't want to be the first.

Dustin,
Dave is very right about this, turbo's aren't an abrupt or shock type power. They typically come into the power progressively (because the load builds boost) so you don't ever get that bang or snap unless you have the clutching way way aggressive and are using a 2-step... But then you wouldn't on a trail sled... Or? HA!

I can totally relate to your analogy Dave. Our PS800 Vmax4 hits WAY harder then my turbo trail Apex, which has almost 50 more HP. Still on the original chaincase chain in the Apex, too...

Of course, my Apex will never 60ft like our Vmax4!!!!!! Thank goodness LOL! An individual could run out of talent pretty quick on the trails with that...

There's been some changes to the reverse. I was so busy gawking at my new toy that the info went right in one ear and out the other. It's all black by the way.

Go figure! Do you have that Turbo kit on yet Dave? What are you doing for a drive shaft/track? I also can't remember if you said you were doing a shorty or a gade?
SKIDOOCHRIS
I used an xp cover and now there is no place for reverse

did you do it for weight savings or because of concerns about the reverse not handling the extra hp?...or both?

Waiting for spare motor & some other things. If motor doesn't show up I'll need to Doo a road trip & get some miles on this motor before installing kit on it. It's a shorty that'll start with 121 probably ending up 128 with wheels. Investigating both shaft options. Is your turbo on yet?

Nope, I have decided to break mine in on the snow also, I will have all of the chassis upgrades done as well as a 128" track with 10" wheels done before I even break it in. That way hopefully in an afternoon I can have it boosted once I have a few more miles on it.
SKIDOOCHRIS
when you open the chain case you will see why the reverse JUNK is gone
IMO there is no way that stuff can take much more then 200hp
