Hi all,

Trying to decide which 2010 machine to buy......currently have a 550fan 05 Expedition Sport with a 16 x 136 x 1.25 track (ski stance=42.5") and the engine and track size seem very suitable for my area of riding and riding style.....

Thought I would stick with the 550fan for value pricing and don't really need a larger track size...

Wondering about the 32" ski stance on the Tundra Sport (550f).....will it be suitable if I ride a lot on lakes??....sometimes I can hit speeds (not often though) of 70mph and still feel stable on my current sled.....not a lot of mountains or heavily treed areas.....mostly lake riding, small hills, and trails that I have easily navigated with my current sled...

I like the fact that the Tundra has a 16 x 137 x 1.25 track, 6.9 Pilot skis, cargo rack, electric start, high windshield as standard....

VS....

Renegade Sport 550 fan which has a 15 x 137 x 1.25 ripsaw track size, 42.4" ski stance with optional elec start (which I would get), and would have to add a cargo rack at the back, perhaps a larger windshield, and perhaps add 6.9 pilots (it comes with 5.7 pilot skis)....

Any thoughts from Tundra owners or Renegade owners would be appreciated....

Hi, the two sleds are really 2 different animals. The Renegade is a more performance engineered machine, while the Tundra is designed to be a work machine. If cargo racks wide track are what you have now and are happy, I would steer you towards the Tundra. The wind protection and electric start are already on too. It sounds to me like the machine for you.

I am concerned about the narrow ski stance though, when I speed up crossing larger lakes. My current sled has the same ski stance as the Renegade and it is stable up to 70mph top end.

This being the first year for a current 550 machine with a 32" stance, know one knows how stable it will be at 70mph. Being a Tundra, I would assume this would be the top speed given the gearing in all. All the Tundra 550's in the RF chassis were 39" stance (I think). All the 32" stance machines were 300's and maxed out at 50 mph or less.

How often do you run 70mph? Is it for 30 seconds or hrs at a time?

Not often.....just when crossing a large lake....a minute or so every now and then.....

however I just found out after going online on the Doo site that the 'grand touring' sport 550f is available with a factory installed option 16 x 137 x 1.25 track for an extra $50......and also comes with a lot of extra options such as extra high windshield, elec start, mirrors, heated visor outlet so I may go with that option and purchase the 6.9 pilots instead of the 5.7 SL skis it comes with....
