Hi,

My girlfriend and I are planning on heading to Pittsburg this year for a sled trip. We normally go to Quebec every year, but w/ the exchange rate it's quite expensive and we would like something different.

We'd be going for 3 nights, either the last or second to last weekend in February. Where is a good place to stay? Just a normal room w/ private bath. Would like a place w/ restaurant/bar on premises for when we return.

Thanks!

I prefer to stay at Mountain View Cabins as it's the most convenient. It's right accros from Youngs Store and Happy Corner restaurant. You get to be at the main point in Pittsburg and they are very CHEAP. We typically stay there or at the Buckrub Pub. The food there isn't very good but the lodge is pretty decent. It's about 3 miles from Youngs and it's also cheap at like $75/night.

Lopstick is good but last year you couldn't get there by sled. Make sure they have trail access this year if you think of staying there. It's very nice there but if you don't know your way around the trails it can be a little tricky to find.

I LOVE PITTSBURG!!!!!

Go to the Pittsburg ridgerunners website there is a full list... Powderhorn, Snowfeild cabins, and all above. There is plenty of snow in Febuary.

I think that they are the best around. They have a onsite bar/restaurant and there food is unreal little pricy but well worth every penny.Book early because they will fill fast.

Wow, that is nice. But you are right, it books fast. Looks like the weekend we want to go is already booked up, besides the rooms that share a bath.

Thanks, for all the replies!!

We offer fully equipped private cabins for a very reasonable rate ($125) and a clean comfortable motel room for even less. ($65) We are a bit of a drive to a restaurant though 11 miles by road and 13- 15 miles by sled. Here is a pic and a link to more info and pics. 45th Parallel Cabins Please PM members Matt in mass or j sin for an unbiased review of us. Hey Denny. Thanks for the Info! We'll be in touch if I decide to get a guided tour.

I don't have an interceptor 998. "Interceptor" was just a name I came up with and 998 was after my apex engine. Great engine, I miss the engine but I don't miss the weight. haha.

Just booked a room at Tall Timber's in Pittsburg. This will be my first snowmobile trip to NH, but by the sounds of it not my last. They seem very hospitable on the phone!

Thanks for all the help!

good choice, they are great people. last year i planned on going up for new years with just my fiance. so i booked a room, then my buddys wanted to go, so i booked what i thought was the only cabin left. well it turns out the cabin i rented was kinda small for 4 people. so they gave us one of the best places they had for close to the same price as the smaller cabin. needless to say we owe him one.

GOOD CHOICE ON TALL TIMBER....THE BEST PLACE IN PITTSBURG AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED......I KNOW THEM WELL...AND YOU ARE 100% ON THE MONEY WHEN YOU SAID IT WILL NOT BE YOUR LAST TRIP HERE...PITTSBURG IS AMAZING...... rolleyes.gif

Pittsburg is nice, but it doesn't hold a candle to Aroostook County.
shock123
That's sweet dude.It all depends on what type of riding you want to do pitt offers some great off trail.
tbeaton
the county is cool if you just want to go 100 on trails. pitts and rangley is where its at for alittle bit of everything.
Saluda
We love Pittsburg, always stay at Ramblewood. Paul is great. As stated prior all kinds of trail access.
shock123
Paul is a great guy.
tbeaton
i have not had any negative experiences with any place up there. i think there was a problem with someone on a forum at one place up there, but i can't remeber what place. mountainview and tall timber take care of us. lopstick was good as well, we just don't get there to often.

You are off to a great start by staying at Talltimber (TT). TT is the BEST in Pittsburg...Park your sleds, eat and sleep w/o having to meet up with the local game warden and or police.

TT as you are aware is on Back Lake....Keep in mind the low speed limit on Back Lake after sundown...The afterdark speed limit is strictly enforced...Those returning to camp after dark sometimes forget the after sundown speed limit, and unfortunatley have an extra expense for the day.

Stay safe.

Good to know I did not know that there was a limit on the lake.

thats a state wide deal i believe. no limit during sun up but as soon as it goes down its like 35mph or something around there. we forget all the time and they will sit out there and wait for people to burn across it.
Team STE
Yea you need to be careful on the lake/lakes after sunset. I had two buddies get followed all the way from the lake to their camp to be ticketed. Every lake law got strictly enforced after the incident with the kid hitting the docks at TT about 5 or so years ago. Such a bad day.
denny
The night time speed limit is a Back lake only thing A couple NH lakes have speed limits all the time Turtletown pond is one that comes to mind.
tbeaton
so i can book across the other lakes in pitts? i didn't know that, we were putting across the lake (denny we took it when i rode with you and the other guys last year, comes out to 5 and 112 i think). i always forget which lake is which.

first conn?
denny
Yes no other lake in Pittsburg has aspeed limit. Only other speed limit on lakes is within 150 ft of a bobhouse icefishing hole or pedestrian
