Certain parts in the primary will be replaced for added durability and a re- flash of the "brain" to add some over heating codes etc.. Not sure of the exact details but your dealer will know soon. Thanks BRP for continuing to improve an already outstanding sled!!

Can you tell us where that info came from? The only problem with the primary that I know of were some bad TRA arms.

Too bad BRP doesn't post bulletins like this on their site like they are supposed to post "Recalls".

I found the clutch to be pretty quiet compared to my FX Nytro ...constant rattle at idle.

I had the reverse spring update done to my sled prior to picking it up in February but still had it popping out of gear in off trail riding .... my dealer installed a new set of "cut" gears from BRP to test in the spring .... I only got a couple of hundred miles on it but no more problems (and putting it into reverse is a little easier now) .... maybe there will be an update there as well. It's good to see BRP is looking after us.

I snapped an arm and also wore out all the slider buttons big time
rangelec
The cheapy buttons are the issue IMHO and when they wear the wider than normal ramps hit the arms and can break them. I would think they will replace the bushings and inspect the arms

Right on! I will be trying to get my sled in before snow thanks for the info. could not belive how loud that clutch could be at - 40c and the dealer saying its fine and not that bad and its normal. the first time I started it cold I thought I bought a $10000 nosie maker not knowing it would be one on the best sleds I owned so far cool.gif

My dealer got it on Thursday
CVCOBRA1
I can guess the answer to this BUT:

Is it our responsibility to take the VIN or sled to the dealer or will BRP contact us. Since it is not a true Recall, my guess is I wont hear a thing from BRP. Can anyone tell me what BRP's procedure is on this. The dealer that sold my sled is 9 1/2 hours away. I bought it used and did buy the BEST warranty in my name so BRP has my name and address.

My dealer told me flash adresses temp warning threshold and also grip heater issues. Maybe it will add some better lower temp adjustability so your not cooking on the 2nd bar from low.
Didn't say anything about the clutch but I'll remind him. Mine is was starting to get noisey at 1k miles.
Thanks for the clutch update issues.

Do you have a pdf of the whole thing?

Who is responsible to contact who about this? Will BRP just let this slide until the owner has problems? If a slider goes and you break an arm or something and ruin a trip, BRP will care less. They will just say "oh yea, there was a bulletin on that". Can you take your sled in now and "insist" the dealer do the update. It would be nice to get this taken care of now rather than in January when the dealers are knee deep in work and can't get to it for a week.

I'm just asking if anyone knows how BRP handles this.

Your dealer should have been notified by now, and they should call you about it.

Typically a lot of dealers would order parts before contacting owners.
CVCOBRA1
Just wanted to check. Have any of the dealers been contacting anyone yet about this?

Maybe the dealers are still waiting on parts. Would be nice to get it taken care of pre-season.
bagman
There has been a revision added to the campaign 2009-0013 No. 2009-12
It is 1203 plastic trim removal.
Plastic trim on inner side of snow flap..
if trim is installed, remove it....
It states "Presence of plastic trim can modify snow flap position and allow engine to overheat."
CVCOBRA1
Can't imagine what that plastic trim would be. Evidently mine doesn't have it. Even looked on the parts fiche and didn't see anything.

I ASKED MY DEALER, HE NEVER HEARD OF ANY RECALLS ON THE 1200 SLEDS

A recall is a transportation issue when the problem has a serious risk of causing injury. For example in cars when a part is deemed to break and the car loses control. This is a service bulletin such as when you have a rattle in the suspension of the your car, you complain about it and the dealer fixes it.

If it isn't rattling it doesn't need to be fixed, but when it starts to rattle the service bulletin tells the dealer what to do. Don't expect any letters in the mail on this one.

Here is how I found this out to begin with...I bought a left over 1200TNT, Exact same sled as i drove all last winter. When I called to pick it up after I had him put on a different track and some other things he said wait another week or so because I just ordered you parts needed for a bulliten BRP sent him to take care of a clutch and over heating issue. A week and a half later he called me said "sled is done and ready for you". They all have the same ability...
tbone5114
I'm picking up my new 2009 1200 Renegade X next Friday and I asked about the clutch issue and they have ordered the parts and i going to have it done before i get it.
CVCOBRA1
I was wondering about getting "the call". Should we just go to the dealer and tell him the clutch rattles and give him the bulletin number? Not really worried about the heating issue still it starts throwing codes.

I phoned my dealer in Belleville, Ontario on Friday. They had just received the bulletin Week of October 12. He said they needed to figure out how many 1200 sleds they sold and order parts before any calls were made. I am to expect a call in two weeks to bring mine in. So if some dealer are just getting the letters now, I would not be ragging on your dealer if he has not called yet.

I called my dealer Thursday and they had all the parts there. Just got it done Saturday and they even done the chain case when I brought it in.

The dealer told me that the 2010 had bigger heat exchangers put in them and all other problems where fixed.
markusvt
The 09 1200 has the cheap 1 piece buttons, they get loose, wiggle and rattle. At 1K miles, I put in the 800R buttons with the o-rings, now at 4500 miles, still quiet. The update puts these buttons in, you should get it done for the 2009's.

Me too. Those sliders wore out really easilly. And i think those wore the reason for the arm failure also. I fixed that slider problem by adding springs under them, like older TRA:s use to have. I think that clutch worked much better with those springs, and the sliders lasted for rest of the winter.

Did anyone had problems wiht overheating? I had Gade-x 1200, and i was suffering with heating during all season. Overall problem was the heat exchanger, which is located under exhaust manifold. It got twisted and cooling liquid leaked out. Twisting was result of overheating. Really annoying trouble, that was there for whole winter. Dealer could not fix it. Season 2010 Lynx has also the 1200 engine. Lynxes has extra radiator in cooling system, to avoid that overheating. Has anyone heard, if this part is available for Doos also?

This could be due to the pucks are brand new and a bit tight. I'm sure when you put a few miles on it nothing will change from stock. The spring and or weights would need to be changed to effect engagement.
br2an
I am bringing my machine in tomorrow for another problem. I mentioned to the service guy about doing the clutch update while they had it in and he said he never heard of it. I have had problems with them in the past (never heard of the reverse spring update, then lost my work order with the MY copy of the update stapled to the back of it).

If somebody has the bulletin in pdf form could they PLEASE post it here or pm me with it?

Thanks, Brian
