Racers,
The fall/winter 2009/2010 drag racing season is finally here! The first grass drag of the season will be on Sunday, October 18. This will be the day after the Potter County Snowmobile Club vintage show and swap on Saturday, October 17. As usual, this will be for both vintage and late model sleds, and all classes are double elimination (tournament type) with trophies for the winner and first runner up. The track at the lodge has been seeded and fertilized and mowed several times to get a good layer of sod built up. With all of the rain we’ve had this summer it’s looking pretty green. We also built a road down into the track so you won’t have to navigate that side hill any more.
There will be a few class changes starting with the October race: In the vintage classes, free air/single piped sleds 340cc and under will now run in class 2 instead of class 3. This should make a more level playing field for the 340 free airs and put them in a class with similar horsepower. If it turns out that the 340 FA’s end up dominating the class we may make a separate class for them at the next race, but we’re hoping this works out and we don’t have to add another class.
For the late models, they will now be split at 600cc, 800cc, and open. 600cc sleds will have a class of their own and not have to run against the 800’s. Also, 440 race sleds (Sno-Pro’s) will run in the 800cc class instead of open. We feel that doing it this way does a better job of fitting the most popular late model sleds.
We’re looking for a good turnout again at this race, maybe even bigger than last year. Let’s hope that the weather is as good as it was last year too! If you have any questions or need more information you can call the lodge at 814-848-9958, or 814-389-7528, or for vintage information 607-356-3551 (evenings). You can also check out the lodge website at www.baileyhilllodge.com.
Hope to see you there!
