Cheers
mazda
I have bought little stuff from Factory Rec, have been in business long time and is a reputable ski doo dealer, royal 2000 is fly by night and change locations every year, your call
usedtoskidoo
Mazda is 100%

Royal 2000 is a joke. High miler sleds with low km's

revrnd
I think you have Factory Recreation (the 'doo dealer) & Total Recreation (a used parts dealer) confused. FR usually has non-current clothing @ the T.O. shows. I bought a jacket from them a couple of years ago.

Check the Ontario forum on Freedom Sledder for a thread about Total.
domino
Factory Recreation in Midland is top notch. Doug inventories a lot of used sleds and he is one of the dealers that has Ski-Doo non-current clothing at the sled show.

I have dropped in for service while on the trail and the service people were great!

gade girl
FR has been around a long time and big supporters of the snowmobile industry.

Never even heard of Royal 2000
gmiller
I live around the corner from Factory Rec they are definatly a good bunch of guys over there would not hesitate to buy a sled there. I bought mine there and have had great service.
mxzed600
My dad bought his sled from Factory Recreation, and I have bought quite a few stuff for mine there, always had a great experience there. Travis, one of the salesmen there, is a great guy to deal with. And Doug, the father of Joey Sagan (successful snoxer) is a good guy to talk and deal with.

Royal 2000 are fishy, stay away.

ive bought a fair bit of stuff from FR. really good guys in there. you got a question they got an answer

There are a bunch of ads for sleds on autotrader.com. The ads say over 70 sleds in stock, Snowmobile Supercentre, King City.

Would this be the same operation?

Thanks for the heads up on them! My brother and a friend are looking for used sleds so they'll stay away. Now that I look more closely at their Auto Trader ads, every single one says low km!!

Prices at Royal in the Auto trader are awfully appealing...smile.gif) maybe the guy is looking at just volume and pumping them out??

I was actually at Royal 2000 / Snowmobile Superstore this weekend. I was looking at a '99 MXZ 600 with 5500 K's. I popped the hood for a peak and noticed something interesting. Where the back of the speedo is located I found in black, permanent marker, "11,800" Kilometers.

I'm not accusing them of doing anything fishy because it may not have been the original hood and I didn't care to ask. But after reading some of the posts above, I would be very careful.

Yea, I bought my 99 from them, and it was rolled back to like 4500 kms. Wish there was a topic like this back before we bought it from there. I didn't know as much about the ZXs like I do now, I was only 15, but now I know it defiantly didn't have 4500 original kms.

It may not be the same situation with the newer sleds.

stay FAR away! bunch of losers that know nothing bout sleds.
Sledslapper
I know someone who bought a sled with 4000 miles on it. After blowing the left cylinder, it was taken into the dealer and the serial# showed on the computer that the engine had already been replaced at 9000km.

I also know of someone who bought a 2002 MXZ from there and had no issues at all.

Its your call...

I think you can buy one of their trade in sleds without a problem but one of the new LOW MILES sleds. i would stay away! Far away.

All they need is a computer and adapter and the mileage goes by by!

Has anyone purchased from these Royal guys and know for a fact that there sleds are tampered with?? I was told they are from Northern Quebec and they were demos or Doo employee purchases and they flip them every year and this guy goes goes up and picks up the whole lot of them like 80-100 sleds at a time?? Cant you really tell if a 2009 has 1000 miles or 4000 miles on it ie/wear and tear??
too solid
I drive by "SNOWMOBILE SUPERSTORE" every day on my way to work. I called the phone number they had on the big sign reading "SNOWMOBILE SUPERSTORE" with the phone number underneath and its not in service. After reading all of the posts above I wouldn't even bother to look at a sled there.

If you go to autotrader he's on there with a pile of sleds 08/09 xp's, all look in great shape. I bought an 05gsx last year for the wife from them. The sled looked good with no abuse, had good comp. and ran great all year. As for the k's on it it had just over 2000, Looked to be in the same shape as a gtx I bought with 1200 miles from my neighbour which was a new sled. The track however I think may have been swapped as it looked like it had a few miles on it. I had no complaints for the $4400 I spent on it.

Iknow those guys (royal) they sell brp employee sleds and sleds brought from quebec.... they are goods sleds I bought a few never had a problem.... my friends also.. dont be stupid know your S#!T and do your home work... bring a compression test with you.... check every square inch of the sled... they are volume sellers.. there inventory moves constantly.... they moved to king and 400 for a better local... (400 being the major traffic route north) every dealer has good and bad sides.... I'd recommend royal anytime... just be smart about your purchase.... if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. that goes for anywhere...

my 03 had 3000kms it now has 13000 in two year of terrible abuse (maintained) but none the less...and no problems....
my 800 is F$%@# immaculate... $5,500 2,300 kms... the thing is in perfect condition...tests out just fine......

I guess he changes his company name every year and moves to a new location. If you call the day after we get snow and people start riding the junk that he sold, his answering machine says "thank you for the great year, see you next year" he is off to wherever he spends the winter (someone told me he goes to europe) so he doesnt need to deal with helping people with repairs. I hapened to be riding in Quebec last year and was at a Ski doo dealer buying some oil and the guy asked me where i was from, told him Ontario and he asked me if I ever heard of the guy. Apparently he had picked up a load of sleds and closed up the following week with $60,000 of the guys inventory.
From all of the stuff I have heard of this guy he sounds like a crook. Go deal with someone reputable that is going to be around to help you if there is a problem. There are other dealers out there where you will be dealing with good honest business people- not fly by night yahoos that dont give a crap other than getting your hard earned money.

maby true... but you can always take your good deal to a reputible dealer after....lol

They really do have some amazing deals..... but you must be informed/careful just like anywhere
jaylo600
The company changes name and location every year, Last year he was at hwy 5 & 6 in Waterdown. I went there on my wy to the cottage thanksgiving weekend. He no doubt moves alot of inventory and I asked him if he imports from the states he said " that has never really worked out for me " The next person that came in asked about a certain model and I overheard the guy tell him " well I have a bunch more coming from New York in a few weeks so check back with me "???? Now why would he lie to me ?? I'm sure people have had great succes with sleds from there but personally I will spend a little more to buy from a repuatble dealer.
RotaxRamrod
Yup these guys were in Waterdown, at Hwy 5 and 6, and before that somewhere near Toronto, and before that near somewhere else, and you got it before that somewhere else, they keep moving, changing the name a little, very fishy.

Moved to a better location? Please, more like moved because he didn't want "edit for bad language" off customers coming back. The location he had last year was mint, and he moved a lot of sleds, I asked him how business was and he said he was very surprised, and really liked the location... then he moved. Ya ok.

He was getting the sleds repaired at a shop on Hwy 6 - called Sleds R Us, and they are too fishy to say the least.
That alone made locals role their eyes.
But on this forum and on others, the word is, is that Royal roles back the Km's on their sleds to make them look better. That's why they are cheaper. You get what you pay for.

I bought an $1,100 sled, know that it's going to be and perform like an $1,100 sled. Here when you think it's a cheap sled, there is a reason it's cheap.

Buyer Beware that's all. i am sure people have come away with a decent sled from here, but for the most part be careful.
jaylo600
while were at it , anyone know anything about Bayfield auto ?? I know they import from states but they are upfront about that right away also no warranty but any bad dealings/ good dealings ?

just go to royal with a comp tester and some common sense you'll find a GREAT sled I guarantee!

Go to Autotrader they are all over there...they sell sleds not motors though!
Jimboat
Buyer Beware - i bought a sled from Royal 2000 - odometer read 2300 miles, ownership from Quebec. Had to do alot of work on suspension, did it through Polaris, who advised that the sled had been worked under warranty at 8,000 miles on it. New speedometer replaced 1 year prior to when i purchased. When we asked the owner of Royal 2000 whether speedo was original and untampered, he swore that all was ok and legal.

So....buyer beware, it's almost assured that you're not getting what's advertised from these guys. They are not honest or trustworthy. They buy many sleds from Quebec with high mileage and convert.

Hmmm, Interesting post from a newbie. I suspect that the Royal owners or friends of theirs are behind the defense here rolleyes.gif

I visited this place as I live 10 minutes from the "temporary" waterdown location. I did not feel comfortable as the pricing and sled condition did not jive. Yes buyer beware, but fraud is fraud. If you feel you have been taken by them then you should pursue it through legal avenues.
MADDOX
This is funny but it's not. Because I called them on a 09 1200 TnT with 800km on it . He said that he was waiting for a speedo for it from BRP it because it was broken TgC_emoticon142.gif .They sound shady stay away

I came very close to buying an 5 grand sled from these guys when they were in Waterdown...hwww that was too close am I glad I didn't..Chris
