I,m new at this forum and looking for your input on skandic sleds . I what to buy two one for me and my wife . Tundra for wife because I think it will be easier to handle . I would like the swt skandic but not sure if its right for me . Would need this for some groomed trail rideing, pulling ice hut , making trails in northern ontario snow .I had just sold my 550 fan touring nad got them stuck alot . I,m a new bee and open to help .My two main concerns our getting the swt stuck as it a heavy machine , and how does it handle . The expedition is an option but not sure the difference from 20" track to 24 " track in the deep snow . THANKS all input is helpful in our decision

Unless your pushing Moose Factory and North I don't see the point in a SWT (24 wide) for use in Ont. The rear suspention is week (light) IMHO and isn't intended for groom trail travel. They do work well in deep bottomless powder but for your application a 20 wide will work perfect. Two speed tranny, decent suspention and will carry you in any POW that you will find here at home. I can only speak for the Expedition XU. There is a late model skandic 20 wide (1220 kms) in Midland at Factory Recreation. They also have some XUs on order. The new Tundra looks sweet for your second ride. If you can get Labrador Boy out of his Tundra Project I'm sure he will have the best of insight for your new direction. Good Luck!

Cain's Guests recommendation is good; the XU should be able to handle the Ontario wilderness and using the new Tundra 550LT as a companion would be a great two-some.

As has been suggested, searches will help you here as a lot of these topics have been discussed before; some basics:

I do most of my riding in NW manitoba which probably is very similar to the riding you would do. Precabrian shield, rugged landscape, dense evergreen forests, etc. I own a 2009 Tundra LT 550 and have never been in a situation that was too much for my sled. I used to own a arctic cat bearcat (600lbs 20 by 156 track) and I found that it was great in deep snow but lacked the ability to throw around that you probably need in ou terrain. In addition the thing needed a lot more room to turn vs mt current machine. I would only get the WT or SWT if you plan to be doing heavy pulling. My machine pulling around 500 lbs does great the new tundras look even more agile with the 32 " stance vs my 38" stance.

I am in full agreement. The Tundra 550LT or Expedition Rev-XU are my suggestions. Seeing as the guy is buying a pair, I recommend that he buy one of each! Great combo.

go with a 20-inch track unless you'll be working and pulling something all the time. Get an XU, TUV or SUV as they will also give you better handling and turning.

Although a 20" track is also my preference, a Tundra 550LT is not to be balked at. I had a very simlar Skandic 440LT chase me just about everywhere I could go on my SWT V800 and in the woods, boy could he ever out-maneuver me. Could I out-tow him? Yup, easily. Was I more comfortable? Yup. Was he working and pulling something all the time? No.
