As a NY club President that rides a ton in Maine, there is a lot of diff directions you can go, check out our website and email me so you can jump on one of our trips if you like.
I normally ride Moosehead Lake (middle) early and Caribou (northern) later.
The International Snowmobile Festival-Madawaska, first weekend in Feb rides in Canada (NB) for a great ride and a substantial cost savings.

If you are going to go riding, go to the County, Aroostook County. You can ride 300 mile days every day and never see the same trail. There is no equal in Maine.

If you're looking for some of the best backcountry riding in Maine.... the western mountains is where it's at.

Rt 95 to the end(Houlton)and turn left on rt 1 aprox 30 miles north you will come into the town of Blaine (15 miles South of Presque Isle) there is a place there called Blaine Cabins (there are 4 of them) Great place to base from on the rail bed (ITS 83) you can go anywhere from there..
Or there are planty of other places a few miles north of there.. The Presque Isle Inn and Convention Center is also on (ITS 83 Spur) and next to the Sled Shop (Ski-Doo Dealer) if you need a rental. Kevin and the Boys will hook you up ! Been ridding there for years and rarely go anywhere else like said above you can ride 300 miles a day and still have time to go to Dinner and not be Worn Out! plus lots of on trail places to eat Al's In mars hill My fav for breakfast then on to Deans in Portage for Lunch then up to long lake for dinner then back! all trails are well mapped and most are divided threw fields and most of the rail beds were double (20 feet wide) so cruising at 60 to 80 is common..
Hope this gives you a idea..

This website will help no matter what area you pick. http://www.mesnow.com/Services.html

They also have an online trail map too. My favorite area is the area from Rangely down toward Greenville, over toward Millinocket and on up to Ft. Kent. wink.gif
