I will warn you though, after mountain riding everywhere else is boring and sucks! When you've been to the top, the bottom just isn't the same!
I've told other guys the same thing as we packed up to head to the mountains and they all said I was right when we got there.

The hole you see at the bottom of the belly pan is the drain hole for the cooling system, it has a large rubber plug to prevent snow from going inside. Its OEM on the RT platform.

Whenever we post a pic and someone asks, "where is that?" We say, "Upper Huffman" That way we don't give up our secrete spots. Upper Huffman is a subdivision on the mountain side above the city of Anchorage, but we can't ride on the mountain above it because of all the tree hugging liberal zealots that live up there.

A lot of these pics make me, as nothing but a "shorty" owner, wonder why I even have sleds. Those over 150 inch tracks and wide skis have got it going.

My trailer would be too short for three of those. LOL

Oh yes "Upper Huffman", i think alot of places have a place like that. Generaly very busy, in my case full of Albertans with their colorful outfits, at adistance you would think its a clown gathering in the mountians Sorry boys j/k.

Colorful outfits. Head down to the bighorns and you can really see some clowns. Down there, it seemed to us that it was all about looking the part. Who cares if you know how to (or even enjoy) riding that sled. As long as it looks sweet.




Where abouts in Crowsnest is this taken. Looks a lot like the York Creek Basin area to me, but I could be wrong.

Oh, yes! The "show and shine boys" from various locales; all the decals, the polished tunnels, the nice paint jobs, and never ever go into the trees or somewhere where it might get it a little tight or dangerous....

Or the guys that cruise around town with their sleds or dirtbikes in the back of their truck ALL the time, and you've NEVER seen them on the snow or the trails.... They sure look cool, though. Thats almost as good as a brand new truck with a 10 inch lift, 44" inch tires, and a row of PIAA lights across the top, that has never even seen a gravel road... haha

No posers here. Each of those sleds have been through their fair share of motors, body and chassis parts. Ride em like there stolen. And there's not any parking lot hero outfits here either. Just good ski/boarder gear that works good in the back country. It's all about the riding................

Although I DO NOT want to be at the bottom of that particular picture of your "upper huffman" More and more these days and after the start we had to last season.......amidst the 12 yr. old giddyness that wells up inside me when I see a picture like that........luckily in my older age a certain KNOT also plants itself in my head and stomach and says.......YOU DON'T WANT TO TOUCH THAT TODAY!

Why not? The sluffing snow is a good sign, it means it's steep enough that the snow will automatically release and not buld up unsafe loads. It doesn't look wind loaded. It is a southern facing slope though, so the afternoon might be a problem if is warms up. And there's not a lot of anchors there, rocks make lousy anchors. Yeah might be a problem if the condisions were not right. Definetly a slope that needs to be checked and ridden one at a time, better have a ABS pack too.

But the 12 yr old in me also wants to hit it.

I highmarked Lundwhen we had a little excursion to scout out this climb! -Granted we stopped in the trees and have a very controlled turn out... not really wild pinnin it to win it high mark style but i offset his ski marks by one of mine barely nudging the trees we turned around at... thereby winning me the highmark!! Even though it really isn't that glorious I did it and will NEVER let him live this one down! High marked by a GIRL on an itty bitty 860!!

LOL! Lund hears the name Jack A$$ around here, or Jack for short, more than he does any other. I swear he has 3 or 4 feet cause he has a mouthful of a few at a time quite often.

Actually that mountain pic was taken on Feb 3rd. Just a week past the time all you Doo heads were there. It had snow a bunch then we had a blue bird day such as you see there.

Yup, that was the day you FAILED to stop and throw snowballs on me from the top! You missed your chance!! That was also the day that my tether cut out on me. That was one of the few shots of me riding the buggar that day! One of the guys we rode with that day, Steve, took that pic. He was getting view pics and I said, hey, there's someone I know and popped over to him, he snapped this shot as I rounded the hill to him.

oh, and yeah, good thing you had CD taking your pic otherwise that pic woulda been RUINED with you in it!!!
