my o6 mini has blown two sets of head lights... what the gig. one set was with the stock 120 the other set was with the rec 200. both sets blew within 10 hours of use.. what options do i have? i was thinking about a capacitor inline with the headlights, but I dont know if that would work or if it would even be possible..
any ideas anyone?

Has the motor been over reving?? (tied off gov). May need to use a Zener Diode to knock the voltage down to the 12v. We did this on a couple of go-karts in the past.

ill have to try something like that when i get more bulbs...
something to burn a little extra power..

btw we are not bypassing the governor

I have fixed a couple where I added a handwarmer element, just applied it right to the frame.

Is the tail light working? If not, that will add to an overvoltage condition.

My 07 mini came with a handwarmer element stuck to the plastic in front of the engine.. The dealer removed it when they put the handwarmers on the machine.

My mini kept blowing bulbs and the dealer put one hanwarmer under the hood and it fixed the problem. BRP sells the bulbs cheaper than the autoparts stores! imagine that!

If you still have the problem, a small aftermarket voltage regulator installed on output wire will cure the problem. It usually only happens when used for racing because of the higher rpm. This will cure the problem. You can use any vr from a sled and mount under hood

Our kid's mini fried both headlight bulbs for the second time.
First time I ordered through the dealer and paid $18.99 Cdn each
This time I did a bit of research and foot work and found a replacement bulb at
Wally World (AKA Wal-Mart) for $8.99 Cdn Each
The Doo bulb is a 892 which is a 12 Volts 35 Watt bulb
the Wally World bulb is an 880 which is a 12.8 Volt 32.5 Watt bulb.
That was 2 years ago and the bulbs are still good.
as even for 20 bucks for a set it could get pricy changing these things out when they go
which on ours was all too often.

Any how just passin on the tip.
