Just a question, what ages realistically are the mini sleds good for. I know some of us buy them when real young? What age would a child be able to drive one? When would they be done with one?

I started my son right before he turned 4yo, but I put a 25 foot long nylon rope to the tether cord and ran around after him for a while.

My 6 yo daughter took right to it and actually gave my son his first rides...

I started riding a Arctic Cat 120 (I know I know its a cat) from 8-10 and at 11 I got a 380. Realistically, I think its good from whenever you think the kids can start riding (I'd say between 5-8 depending) to about 10. You can't legally ride on the trails until your 12 anyway (in NH at least)

From Here, NH OHRV Laws Digest

Under age 12 may operate on trails in NH with proper helmet & eye protection. They must be accompanied by someone over 18. They do not need to have taken the safety course. No passengers & they may not cross roads. The only difference with a 12 or 13 yr old is they must have taken the safety course & can cross roads. All other restrictions still apply. BOL

My son started riding his MiniZ at almost 4. He did really good his first year. This was his second season and he was real comfortable on it! Pic is from this season. He will be 5 next month...His Z has a 6.5hp but I have it dialed down to approx 10mph.

I have two sons and we bought a new mini Z last Nov. for them to share, the older guy will be 9 in June and the young guy will be 4 in Aug.................I say the sooner you get them on one the better, I'm going to start to look for a 370 or 570 for the soon to be 9 year old.

My kids started on a kitty kat at age 2, then a 120 at age 4. My son moved up to an Indy Lite 340 in the spring of age 7, riding it in Golden B.C. Next winter he'll be 10, and he's ready for a bigger sled with a deeper lug track. Today, my eight year old took the 340 for a spin and she likes it! No surprise there. Neither are big for their age, but they ride year round on atv's or dirtbikes as well.

Supervision, and proper gear are key to kids riding safely. Get them a chest protector in addition to a helmet that fits. I feel the sooner they start, on a sled sized for them, the better. Have fun, they sure do!!

This was Revelstoke powder rippin' at age 7.
