Hey guys,
BY now everyone that is involved in the motorsports community has heard about the ban because of lead content in the bikes and fourwheelers.. We all know this is ridiculous.. I mean what kind of kid sucks on his bike? Well anyways, I am kind of concerned about this going over to the snowmobile market. I am concerned about it because when I was 7 I raced kitty Cats and 120s. And It would really suck for all those little kids that race right now if all the sudden they can't buy parts... Is anyone out there aware if there is a chance this will kill the Little snowmobile market?

I was told the same thing. I wanted to order a part for my Son's 1986 Yamaha Moto 4 and the dealer told me that the part was available, but that he could not order it because of a government ban on all kids bikes of 100cc or less. He told me it was due to possible lead in the parts?? He told me that I couldn't even purchase a new 80cc bike off of his showroom floor until the government ban is resolved! He also said he couldn't sell me any kids helmets or clothing. In fact he told me that if the same bolt was used on a 250cc machine that is used on an 80cc machine, then he couldn't sell me the 250cc machine either! He told me that if he sold me a kids motorcycle (100cc or less) and he was turned in, that the manufacturer would get a $1,000,000 fine and his dealership would get a $100,000 fine. Half the stuff in his shop he couldn't sell. I have been told this kind of stuff from more than one dealer. If you need parts for your kids bike, make sure you tell the dealer it is for a 250cc bike or you won't get them.

Since the dealer can't sell minibikes or kids safety gear (helmets, boots, jackets), I guess the government is telling us that our kids have to ride adult machines with no safety gear?

IMO the mini market is OK.......................other wise they wouldn't be selling the mini at the local snowmobile dealer......................I heard of a shop that had 100,000 dollas in inventor (ATV's) that he has to eat because he can't sell the stuff legally!!!!!

Enforcement of this stupid law seems to vary. I've purchased parts for MiniZ and ArticCat Z120, and a new helmet since the law went info effect. Too bad that some corrent information isn't out there for joe blows like ourselves.
