Looks like we'll be heading up Saturday morning, and leaving Sunday night.
We'll be staying at the Gray Ghost Camps. My GFs friend leases a cabin, there.

Can't wait!!!

This is my tow setup. Can't miss the dootalk stickers!!

I may be in the area if things work out for me. I am just down the trail in Greenville.

We're going to be in Jackman that weekend... going to hit the trains at Eagle Lake.

Great place to stay. Steve and Amy are great. Usually stay there a couple times a season. They do a great job with the trails.

Will be Jackman.

We will be in Bingham that weekend, hoping there will be some snow left. Anybody stayed in the Bingham area before ?this will be our first trip north, the trail reports all look favorable and I cant wait to see some real trails. So far all we have been on are the trails in southern maine, which are nice but from what I hear dont compare to the northern Maine trails.

Looks like we'll be heading up on Friday afternoon, instead of Saturday morning. dance.gif

Come to find out, another one of my GFs friends owns a camp, just down the road from where we are staying. They are going to be there, also. Should be a fun weekend. Both couples were there, last weekend; and said the riding was still good.

BTW;it looks like the 6 of us are going out to dinner, Saturday night. There is a small italian food restaurant, not far from the camps. I don't know its name, but the other 2 couples were raving about it.
Should be interesting.

I'm just recovering from Influenza A and Pneumonia, so I'm REALLY looking forward to this trip!! biggrin.gif

The restaurant's name is "Soup's On". Its part of the Sundown Cabins.

Looks like we are going to head to Pittston Farms for lunch, either Saturday or Sunday.

Leaving Palermo around 6:30 am, trucking to Bingham or the forks & then unloading. headed north then east for a loop, unsure of what direction, will ride on the best trails. Just riding, no time limit, no destination, just riding.. revinmotion.gif if you see a Gray Rev & a black grand touring stop us & say Hi !!

Just got back, All great riding .. put on 189 miles...Forks,Jackman,Pittston Farm,Rockwood, then back to the Forks, In town forks, many bare spots..but rideable

Just got back myself last night. Greenville groomed Thursday a.m. and the trails were pretty good. There are some tough spots along the main drags in a couple of areas but nothing unrideable. The worst spot is the section of 85/86 between GV and Kokadjo where they were logging earlier in the season, best bet is to use the Lily Bay Mtn trail instead to bypass that section and get some fantastic scenery.
BAR IT!
Got back home at about 10 PM, last night. For spring conditions, the trails were in GREAT condition. We put on just shy of 400 (easy) miles. The Blue Ridge Riders sections of trails, in Rockwood, were in especially good condition. They do an excellent job, with grooming.
After Tuesday; the area temps are supposed to hit the mid-high 50s, for the rest of the week. I suspect that might wipe out the trails. However, there is still quite a bit of snow, off-trail; so that might be a good option.
As BDD reported; ITS 85/86 is getting pretty bare, between Greenville & Kokadjo. The Lily Bay Mtn trail was still decent. ITS 87 to The Forks, still had decent coverage, but could have used some grooming. The lake is a sheet of ice; so, if you don't have studs, be careful!

Saturday afternoon; we ran into Dix, at Pittston Farms. He reported that the trail to The Trains was all mud, and they didn't make it there. I told Mac (our "tour guide") this, and he has an alternate route to get there. He said he went over there on Friday, and alternate trail was good. He is supposed to send me the maps he GPS'd for that area. The alternate trail is on that. Dix, if he does, I'll PM it to ya.

Saturday night (and breakfast Sunday morning), we ate at Soups On; in Rockwood. I HIGHLY recommend them!!! It is a very small place, but the food (and owners) are TOP NOTCH!! On a busy weekend, I recommend calling them for a reservation. It is located at Sundown Cabins. Here's a link: www.sundowncabins.com
Sunday night, on the way home, we ate at the Black Frog; in Greenville. The food was very good.

Mac and Ann (Getchell); THANKS for the hospitality, and being tour guides!! We had a great time!!! Mac is one of the groomer operators for the Blue Ridge Riders, and has ALL The Forks/Rockwood/Greenville (and MANY other areas) trails on GPS. Actually, he is the person who did the GPS mapping, for the MSA, in that area.

Mac; once again, thank you for letting Shelley use your T660 Touring. She LOVED it!! Her days of riding her MXZ 380F are OVER!!
We have to stay with 'Doo biggrin.gif ; so we will be looking for a GTX/Grand Touring, with SDI/E-Tec or the 1200 4-Tec.
We'll keep the 380 for a "back up" sled, or for guests to use.

BTW; Mac is a long-time Cat owner. He is looking to leave the "dark side", replace his fleet of Cats, with 'Doos!! right_on.gif right_on.gif

Sorry that I couldn't manage to be there while you were around.

Cool.... thanks... I suspect I know which way he's talking about... but by the time we were done monkeying around Poulin Rd it was getting too late to try further.
