No one's posted anything interesting lately...

I took a detour out Caribou Pond Rd Saturday, was going to take a buddy up to the top of Abraham. Got a ways up and saw that it was plowed out. Thought I'd take a shortcut and drop over into Kingfield between he backside of Lone and Spaulding.

Anyone been through there this year??? I attempted to break it out. Talk about tight! Bottomless snow pack! I dug myself out twice making it about 100 yards from the crest. Figured We better turn around not knowing what we could encounter dropping over the frontside. OK, and I was getting tired.

Sounds like a great adventure. How the heck do you get to the top of Abraham?

PLOWED OUT..?? what part of the mountain is plowed..? I'm headed up there this weekend. No one's been through the "notch" (between Lone and Spaulding) either ..?? that's almost always broke by the boys with summits in Kingfield by this time. its is VERY tight going through the goat path over the notch. so you were coming from caribou rd, we'll most likely be coming from the kingfield side this weekend, we'll try it anyway. and I'm sure we'll get to the top of Abraham, unless thier cutting up there.

The notch trail into Caribou valley should be clear..... I had some buddies from town ridin up there this weekend, no problems. as far a plowing is concerned i think it's comming from Caribou pond Rd, if you enter from Kingfield side you should be fine. To get to the top, comming from kingfield vear left around the pond you actually end up on the Salem side and can acsess the summit from there. I have yet to be up there this year, this is just my speculation, beeing from Kingfield myself. We have done most of our ridin behind Ira mtn, cant tell you where, cause i don't really know, but it has been awsome. Snow has been deep, almost too deep out there.........

I rode around the South side (Salem) for hours last year and only ended up boondocking... I'm not familiar with the salem side, just remember riding by the high school where I use to play baseball.

I found the trail up through the notch and later discovered you could access the top of the notch from 27 on the caribou pond rd. It was bulldozed out where the notch trail and caribou pond trail met. Snow was botomless and driffted. Waterbars were open as were the brooks on the caribou end.

I've got the Garmin 60 c mounted on the sled now so my brain can absorb it.

I go where Gpis tell me to!
"This is too a trail! Look at Gpis"
Gpis knows all !!!

Take a spin out to the ravine on Spaulding and let me know how thats set up so far this year. Got some good footage there last year! Came close to having a yard sale!

Nope, don't know anybody. I just stop in places and listen to what the locals have to say. Watch the snow maps. I find lots of good spots by mistake. I hardly ever have a destination... Just happen to find myself there. Good Times cool.gif

I rode up to MT Abraham yesterday from the kingfield side, the notch was certianly not easy, but got through allright.. got to the top and found that the road was plowed, but not where I thought it originaly was I guess they are hauling pulp out of there. to get to the summit we road down the the raod aprox 3 miles, got on the trail and was easy from there, rode right to the tower no prob.... I can tell you this there is more snow in the notch than you can imagine, literaly up to my arm pits!!! looking foward to some awsome spring riding..
