I was wondering if any other dootalkers are planning to ride the border to border on Feb 7th, this is a benefit ride for cystic fibroesis (sp), I rode the last one a couple of years back but it had to be cut back to White river junction area due to low snow conditions it was a ton of fun aprox 200 miles, the ride is starting in Woodford snow permitting and ending up @ chez pigeon in Norton aprox mile 350-400 in less than 24 hours, the way the trails are shaping up it should make it for a fun loooooong ride biggrin.gif
Thanks and hope to meet some more dootalkers at the event, if you are interested you could shoot me a pm and and could forward you a contact #

This ride looks like a hoot. I am leaving for Maine on 2/8 so I can't participate this year. But, will plan on it for next year.

Four of us did the last one they had which was 2 years back and due to low snow conditions it was cut back to around 200 miles it was a blast and the people that organize it truly have their hearts into this benefit, great group, decent trails and a good feeling when it is all done! tongue.gif

Well seeing what the border to border had to offer, I saw 3 people hit trees on corners, saw racing in the fields, at least people were doing 50 mph in the trails that helped the speed limit problems out, oh almost had a head on collision a few times coming home, what other crap can I put on the table, oh yes being roosted was nice after some jerk passed me and decided to spin out wow. They enforce speed limits for a reason so people don't hit trees around corners and proceed to ditch their sleds in the drainage ditches.

I liked the field racing, which mind you was off the trail too oooops was that a stay on trail or loose it sign of f it, that was behind my house at 630AM that was the highlight of my morning to here the throttle jokeys brappppppppppppppp brapppppppp it was beautiful. See here in Windsor County we have trail problems as it is, and it was great that the words RESPECT THE LANDOWNDERS PROPERTY meant nothing to anybody. ENGAGE BRAIN BEFORE THROTTLE that was saying right well on this ride I saw ENGAGE RETARD and THROTTLE together at the same time. One positive did come out of this though the trail signage was exceptional even though I did not ride the ride I did ride some of the same trails. The best part of riding with that many guys heading towards you is when you round a corner and the other person is on the inside of the corner mind you the wrong side, then they are scared when they see another sled and they can't even tell you how many sleds are behind him becuase he is going so freaken fast not caring where he is going just speeding along the trail. I wish sometimes cops would be out there cracking down on the people breaking the speed limit, and riding the wrong side of the trail.

This is my view of what was going on in this area I don't know about up North I can just imagine that ha ha ha ha. This is why I am getting sick of riding snowmobiles becuase of the amount of a-holes out there with these what they think are sno-cross sleds, with the thought in their mind that they are the next Chris Burandt, or Tucker Hibbert. I am defintley writing to the guy in charge of this ride and telling him exactly what was on here. What a great cause but what a bunch of idiots riding it.

The nicest couple I saw was at 215pm in the afternoon just north of Barnard a older couple on older sleds riding with caution taking their time having a good time now why can't everyone be like that around this state. "IT'S NOT A RACE I WAS TOLD" what a bunch of bs that was. Hell why don't we just stop grooming so we can get these Mario Andretti's to slow down a tad???????

Chris

Sorry for this experience/bad day. I rode last weekend and pulled four people out of the woods/fluff. Clearly they were beyond their limits, because not one of them said it was somebody else who put them in there. My back is beginning to complain about helping out idiots. People need to realize that there is presently a fine line between trails staying opened and closing. Off -trail nonsense is selfish and plain stupid. I feel for you Chris, it does get frustrating when there are a coulple of bad apples who ruin(putting it lightly) for everyone. With that said, I would bet that the majority of riders in the B2B were courteous, respectful and smart.
ffskidoo85
I heard that this is was the last year for this ride because a lot of landowners were complaining of loud sleds whizzing by their house at 6 AM. Its a shame that those who have cans can't keep their sleds on the track where they belong and then the rest of us get punished and don't get to enjoy the experience. Pretty soon the trails are going to be shut down and their won't be any trails for us to enjoy.

I agree with you on this subject. I will be truthfully honest and you can think of me however you want but I do have a can this is the second year on the sled and I hate it. The glass packing wore out now it sounds like a bucket of bolts and nuts banging around. I am so courteous with it too I never go wot with it I am afraid of cops and afraid of shutting down trails. I went for the horsepower part of it, company told me on the phone 3-4 gained and a lot of weight saved ok cool. They never told me after one year it will sound like a chainsaw, and it is a trail can too. Forget it I am not ruining trails for others, it is being changed on Friday to my original stocker. I love performance additives for cheap prices but you know after ten hours of that sound constant drone of that can I give up I had a headache all day I didn't enjoy the ride either. It's not fun to ride when your scared of getting busted for a sound problem believe me even though I am so respectful.

Guys I am only 22 and I care about trails more then some of the older guys do I love to ride, snowmobiling is my life and this weekend really put crap in perspective for me seeing these jerks ruin the trails. Come and look at the fields behind the houses it looks like people were trying to cover the whole field with tracks in some of them, darn it all, the farmer landowners are flipping out in our area already. You think I am a hot rodder I am not, not at all I respect everyone and every trail I ride on if it says sensititve area I creap along about 10 mph.

Who at VAST should I talk to if I want to bring this further because I don't know what to do right now I think that ride should be shut down. There are many other ways of funding CF what a great cause seriously. This isn't about the cause it is about the way it is all handled.

Yeah but at least your admitting it and knowing that the can got louder and its now an annoying drone. I respect that. Some people out there won't ever do that and not care if they are gonna get the trails shut down and what not. They are only in it for themselves and thats all they care about. You've accepted the fact that your sled is now too loud and now your fixing the problem and putting the stocker back on. I applaud you for that because your that much bigger then the next guy who doesn't care.

Hey thanks guy at least I know there are some people still out there that care about the trails too. Well after today and tomorrow I think we might be saying goodbye to our winter we were having, witht he 50's and rain tonight through tomorrow, I guess we were overdue for it anyway we did miss the January Thaw; which I wish we recieved then not now. Well hope you have a good rest of the season if anymore riding is to be done.

Your welcome. Im afraid to admit it but I think your right. Unless we get another Valentines day storm and we get DUMPED on, its not looking too good. I was thinking about going north of border but I don't think it will be any better up there.

was told the first person to finish only took 9 hrs for the ride . my cousins did it in 12 hrs.

Guess you cant tell when sarcasm is being used huh? Yeah very fast meaning speeding obviously. Riding into Mt. Tabor today some a-hole on an fart a cat came flying past me on a corner causing me to basically ditch the sled trying to avoid him. Now let me guess that is my fault too right??? There are guys that can ride fast and control them hugging their own side but when they are in the middle to the outside on a corner I mean come on. I am not picking a beef with anyone on here, the way you ride is the way you ride but there needs to be some common sense some time.

Chris

whats sarcasm? is it when the guy that is crying about the sleds behind his house being too loud goes and puts a can on his sled? is that sarcasm? no, no its not sarcasm...i got it!.....your a hypocrite? or maybe just ignorant?

Guy number one 6:30am blasting through the back of my house that is a prob right there, number two I did my can for performance, not to be an idiot, three took it off and put stock back on. Also I put the can on last year around December didn't put on that many miles last year and did not enjoy the sound. Rode this year couple times short trips absolutley hate it, and I had to find the old one becuase I forgot what I did with it. Now many people have said that cans loose performance I thought they add, just like a dirtbike silencer change from the stock you can change the powerband. But guess not whatever, I am not a hypocrite, I am sick of the speeders guy and sick of the idiots closing the trails. One guy told me he was caught for doing 72 in a 35 this month, now what the hell 72 on a trail please is that necessary, let me guess I am hypocrite for traveling 40 on a open straight away right?????????? Deeet ta da deeeeeet!!!!!!

I am not here to pick a fight with you I am trying to open up your eyes to the idiots out there running others off the trails around corners brapppping through open fields around houses at 6:30am, I know you probably don't see it as much as someone who doesn't ride that often. How about this one for ya, what about the guy who cut my brother off this weekend on a trail came up next to him and cut him right off, now what you call that huh what, a passing zone? Don't bash on me when you don't know the full story buddy, I enjoy the sport and obviously want to keep the sport going if I changed a 270 dollar can out for the old stock one huh after what about one year roughly yeah I say so. Just think about it for a moment, before you go and put your fingers on the key board again. Thanks.

arnt you trying to close the trail?

i ride a lot and i have NEVER been pushed off the trail by another sled. if you have such a problem with the way others ride maybe you should stay off the trails? sounds like too much stress for you anyways. find another hobby.....take up knitting?

Don't want to get mixed up in this, but nobody should have to worry about being pushed off. Wait for a safe place to pass.

Again the whole communication problem remember, think before typing. When I say idiots closing trails I am talking about the people who are speeding, the people who have the race cans on their sleds that is who are closing the trails that is why if you remember why I changed my can along with the annoying sound, it isn't stressful, it is the thought about coming around the corner and meeting head on. I guess you can't understand that I don't know why maybe your thick headed who knows. If you saw what I saw during that CF ride then maybe I could paint a better picture for you, is that what you need graphic images becuase surely words and examples aren't doing it for you. I hear others complaining around at different gas stations so I am not the only one there buddy. I am not trying to close trails for people like you I am trying to show VAST that a ride like that with that many guys is just ridiculous, DON'T GET ME WRONG ABOUT THE CAUSE TWO TOTALLY DIFFERENT THINGS SO DON'T GO THERE. The cause is great the way it was done way of hand. Why has knitting worked for you???????????????? LMAO

How about we end this and stop using bandwidth. Its going nowhere very quickly. To all those who rode for and organized the CF benefit, thanks. There will be changes next year I am told.
Chris1077
Thumb2Bar is right lets end this. But on a end note I did change the muffler to my stock one and I am now happier for that. But in the spirit of snowmobiling you have a good year, and keep safe. Even though you probably don't think I mean it, well I do. Hope you have a good rest of the year.
