Come one - come all cheers.gif Feb. 7, 2009. 100Km groomed trail. $20 gets your registration, hand, lunch & supper. cool.gif Additional hands $5. $15 day pass required for non ASA members.

The Snow Goers, celibrating 40yrs, was one of the founding clubs of the ASA. We still have a couple of the original members too, Ken & Anne Nagel. Anne tells me that she still has a record of the minutes from one of the first meetings.

The trail will showcase our clubhouse, one of our 5 warm-up shacks & 26Km of new trail developed this spring. revinmotion.gif

This is our only fund raiser for the year & moneys raised go directly back into the trail system which is the largest in the province. Last year we were able to aquire almost 30Km of new trails West of town near Goose Tower & a new warm- up shack on the Trapper Lea's Loop to the East. wink.gif

Because of the elevation in the area we get pretty good snowfalls & the temp. is usally warmer than the surrounding areas. Last year it was -30C in Whitecourt & Fort Assiniboine but only -17 in Swan Hills.
We're having the blizzard of the decade today - snow should be good. snowmanbig.gif

Check out the town of Swan Hills website - there is a link to our trail map & other info about the area.

You can PM me or call club president at 780-333-8188 for more info. We hope to see you there.

This warm weather is killing me!!! +5 - +15C We had about 4-5 ft of fluffy powder 2 days ago, now it's like riding in a giant slurpy - wet & heavy. Reminds me of a girl I used to know.. laugh.gif

I guesss it'll make a nice base if get some more on top. We have our rally route about half marked & are trying to plan for grooming. (Trying out smart the weather).

Should be a good ride.
Moosehumper
Well, it's getting closer. checkeredflagg.gif We've had more prizes donated, more snow & the trail marker signs are almost all up.

Did I mention we've got snow! snowmanbig.gif In some places there is 5-6 feet or 1.5M for you metric people. cool.gif The groomer operator has been struggling to get out there due to the warm weather. (grooming when it is too warm can do more harm than good).

I've been getting phone calls from all over the province, we should have a good turnout. riding.gif
Moosehumper
Well it came & went. We had a great turnout 209 sleds registered. wink.gif
We had to make three more trips to the beverage store. cheers.gif
There was a lot of $ raised that will go back into the trail system.

Thank you to everyone who participated. revinmotion.gif
And a huge thanks to all the volunteers and sponsers.
Moosehumper
As promissed, the $ is going back into the trail system. cool.gif
Still riding here too. The end is very near though with only 2-3' of slushy left.
We have 2 cats working on another 17Km loop in the DEEP snow area. tongue.gif (If you've been here you know where)
We have also installed another bridge. These are needed for ATVs used for fall clean up & early season riding as the creeks are 3' wide & 6' deep & never really freeze. (Ask me how I know... ohmy.gif )
Also we hope to do some work on our main clubhouse & build a woodshed & outhouse for the Rainbow Creek warm up shack.

A big thanks to everyone who supported us this season.

A big pat on the back to you and your club! biggrin.gif
Our small group only discovered the Swan hills area mid February and can't believe how much snow and how good the trails are only 2.5 hr from home (Edmonton). It is well worth the drive! Do you know if the burnt out part of the trail from Swan Hills to Fox Creek will be repaired this year? Me and buddy made the trip a few weeks ago and only got through with the help of GPS. We plan to try and ride the full triangle next season. Thanks for The best riding of the season!
Moosehumper
Thanks, it really is a lot of work as we have very few "active" members.
We (as in the clubs & town councils of all three comunities) are working on getting some tourism / developement money to re open & maintain the golden triangle. It costs roughly $1200 / Km to get it going as there is no way to get volonteers to comit to the huge task. It will be mostly cat work. I'm not sure how that will pan out now that money is short all around.
If you've been out there you know what I'm talking about.

We did get an offer of help from the Fort Sk. Snow Angels though, which is greatly appreciated.
Sadly they are slowly loosing parts of there trail system.
SKIROULE72
That's too bad you dont have more active members. It is short notice but will there be a booth at the Edmonton Snowmobile Show? If so I will be sure to buy a trail pass to contribute to your club.
SKIROULE72
I also meant to ask, Do you have a web site?
