Doo talkers and cheeseheads. I am originally from fond du lac and have lived in alaska since 96. My wife of 10 years has never ridden groomed trails and got to experience the way people ride in wis. IE: going from bar to bar, plus lake racing and running smooth trails. Up here all we have right now is 5'+ of powder. It is horrible. Kidding. Except for the snow part. Anyways, I am not really sure of areas that will be open around the 28th of Dec for riding. I was thinking hurley. Any thoughts. Also, what about lodging? One more, what is a great place that rents sleds up in that direction? We are going to the packer detroit game on the 28th, and then road tripping up north somewhere for a great destination. Rent sleds for a day and ride all day and some of the night. ANy suggestions?

Eagle river would be a good choice, no need to go all the way to Hurly. Check out johndee.com for conditions and links for places to stay and rent. Have fun!

Here is the site you need for statewide snow conditions. Follow the links by county and then call their hotline numbers for up to date information.

Welcome back home. (at least for a short visit) Have fun at the Packer game. Hope they do not give the Lions their only victory of the season.

Hurley is great as you can hit up wi or mi, i am not a fan of eagle river just to many people ride it for the snow conditions it seems. As far as lodging if it is more the just the two of you i would try the haven north condos 2-3 bedroom appartments in hurley otherwise i think there is a comfort inn and something else and of coure the silver st motel but thats not a good one for you probly

I would second Haven North condos for lodging also in Hurley. Rode up there the 15th -18th of December,,perfect conditions. Manitowishsports in Mercer rents sleds. The owners Mike and Phyllis are great people. The # for Manitowish is 715-476-2945

I've stayed at the Hurley Inn a couple times when the buddies cabin wasn't available. It's decent, not great but has a bar/resturant, pool/hot tub and right in town on the trail. Can't remember the cost, but was pretty reasonable (4 of us w/ 2 queen beds)
