I'm trying to plan a trip to this area within the next few years. I have family in the area, but they dont care much about sledding. So they are little help. I've been there before, and loved the area.

I'm looking for pictures and suggestions about riding in this area. The more off-trail, climbing, powder, and backcountry runs the better! How are the trail systems? can you get off trail and play around without getting scouled at?

The place I would be staying is about 1 mile from the Table Lands, is this kosher to ride?

The Tablelands are in Gross Morne National Park. You should check with the park to see if you can ride there.

There is great riding in that area depending on the time of year. Powder and hills are abundant. I have attached some pictures. The Gorge is in the park and a permit is required. The Bowl I think is outside the park.

My advise is for you to hire a guide and you will experience lots of back country, hills and powder. Most of the land here is owned by the province and very little restictions on where you can ride.

Wildflowers Country Inn
Hey,

I live in Gros Morne and we operate an Inn in Rocky Harbour, and offer Back Country Snowmobile Adventures. You should "definitely" come and ride our mountains! Gros Morne National Park seems to welcome snowmobilers, however, there are some restrictions. Depending on whether you are a resident or not, there are certain "coridors" that you must use when travelling in the back country. These restrictions are easy to abide by, and there is excellent terrain to explore. The park has a rule of "no highmarking", claiming risks of avalanches and damage to the wildlife habitat. No improved exhaust for sound reasons.

You must purchase a park pass. This allows you to use the park utilites summer and winter, and are available in day, week, and yearly passes. You must also obtain a Snowmobiling pass for the national park. These are free and are usually supplied by your guide.

All that being said, these rules are guidelines only, and there is not a warden around every corner. If you respect the environment, and dont blatently tear everything up, they will let you have as much fun as you want. Beleive me, you will be long run out of gas before you stop smiling ear to ear!

We will be offering guided tours, as well as complete packages with accomodations, meals and park passes. From basic scenic tours, to advanced technical riding, all are welcome.

Do you have a website or information on what kinds of packages and prices you offer? I'm originally from NF, and would like to bring some 'mainlander' buddies to Gros Morne area perhaps next season. All of us are experienced riders, so we'd want the full meal deal so to speak. Are there rental places in the area for newer model sleds? My gf and I were in Rocky Habour this summer - we ate at the larger hotel at the base of the habour overlooking the water ... forget the name - green and white though if I recall. We stayed in Neddies Habour inn ... very nice.
