Hey,

I'm coming up to Anchorage to visit for two weeks. December 26th-Jan 9th or 10th...to visit things and see the sites. I really want to rent a sled for a day and go out in the mountains. Don't know if there is anyone in the area that wouldn't mind taking a non-local out, but I am going up there cause I graduate in May and want to view the area since I'm thinking of moving there. I have some subie buddies that I am going to be hanging out with, but need to find some guys or gals that have sleds that won't mind taking me into the mountains or good riding.

If you're interested let me know...I will be flying in so I won't have a way to get a rental to the hills so some assistance would be needed...

please let me know...cause i want this trip to be amazing and get the true alaskan experience lol...

I used to live in Wasilla, AK. Palin was mayor when I was there......anyway I would look up "ALASKA MINING AND DIVING SUPPLY" a.k.a. AMDS in Anchorage. They are a DOO dealer. They rented sleds last I heard. Alot of the "Free" riders have the AMDS decals on their sleds. AMDS should be able to hook you up with someone if no one comes forward. Good place to ride thats not to far is in Hatcher Pass just north of town by Palmer, AK or south of town in Turnagain Pass. Want extreme riding......hook up with some free riders and go to Valdez, AK. Awesome snow like you ain't never seen.

I met a guy on Nasioc a subie forum that is a free rider and he told me he'd take me where there is snow so that seems cool.

BTW im from Wisconsin lol...but I am just trying to work out the details of the trip before I go spending $1000...you know...lol

Also anyone know of any good places to rent a Summit Rev???

tell me about it...I rode a 07 summit x...and getting back on the zx was tough...but I really want a summit to rent and can't seem to find a place that rents them...

well I've got my part of the trip planned out...air fare and where I am staying I think...just hope all goes well and I can meet up with some alaskans to show me the way around lol...

I'm planning to stay at Arctic adventure Hostel...got a weekly rate for $100 so basically seems like a steal...then I'm going to try and find my way about town and see as much as I can when I can....

I also found that rental place too and $225 seemed a bit intense for a xp summit...I'm wondering if I'd have better luck trying to get one to rent from a dealer...or something of that nature...

well if any of you dootalkers want to meet up while I'm in town that would be great...I'm going there to pass out some resumes and get away from the midwest and college for two weeks while I can MAH HAHHAA

Maybe, just maybe, there's a dealer with a demo they'd give out. Probably have to talk a real good game but worth a shot, they'll never see you again anyways.

Except summits lol...I wanted to rent from them cause they are in the Wasilla area where I planned on riding, but im not taking a renegade into the steep and deep...

however I did book my stay at the hostel today...so the trip's offical.

What kind of car are you renting? If you don't have access to a truck, this will be about your best bet, and it's quite a ride to the "steep & deep" from their location. A renegade from there would actually be a good choice.

well see I'm a 21 year old college student so going on a snowmobile tour might be a little too pricey for me. I spoke with some guys on a subaru forum about renting a sled and they said they'd have place on a trailer to take me out riding...so thats where the idea sparked. Or i was hoping to meet someone on here that would be going riding and wouldn't mind if I tagged along. I ride a ton in the UP of michigan off trail, but I know it's different here.

I'm not renting a car as my feet still work and I've been meeting a lot of people from the Anchorage area online that are really nice, and some at school that will be there to show me around. So I'm basically going to go off that...plus I'm going there to look for a job and a place to live...so spending every on a sled maybe a bad idea cause I won't be getting business taken care of

I know Craig personally and can back that up. I also plowed snow with his son Ryan for Snowball Express out of Anchorage. Awesome people. It is a blast riding up there.

I'm not even sure the renting a sled idea will pan out just cause I'm not 100% sure on a ride...but I still have a month or so to figure out...

Greenspeed Hit me up. I'll make sure you get at least one ride while your up here between 1/1-1/6. I would perfer a weekday. And I can't promise a XP summit but I can get you out once at least on something. (maybe even a 4 stroke, gasp!)
