The main parking area is approx. 10min. from town or the bridge.Fallow the green highlighted road on the map.
Coming out of town from the bridge, take first right at the lights.Fallow, you'll go over a little bridge and continue till your first left. You cannot miss the parking area its very big and easily vissable from the road.
Also as a side note the GlacierHouse resort is on the same road, just a couple of min. further on the left, for those who might plan on staying there.

Some of Revelstokes riding areas for those who might be there for those extra days.
BOULDER MTN; this is where the Dootalk ride will take place......elevation 5-7000ft,great family riding area, very safe, very low risk of avy........will challenge newcomers to the most advanced.
FRISBY RIDGE;approx 45-6500ft,a must to visitors of Revy, spectacular views and family riding, low risk of avy.
TURTLE(via eagles);can be accessed by the Boulder mtn main trail, elevation of 8000+ft,experienced to expert only, guide highly recommended.......AVY country.
KEYSTONE BASIN;awsome area for experienced mountian riders, approx 55-8000ft,huge bowls long climbs very remote so extra gas required.(has restricted areas)
WAP LAKE;good riding areas for all on lower ungroomed trails, but access to the alpine is dangerous with out a guide, high avy area.
HALL MTN;great family riding
MT.McCRAE(Akolkolex);great riding area for all will challenge both the newbie and expert alike.
AREA 51;experienced to expert mountian riders recommended, take extra fuel and i highly recommend a guide.
This is just a few there are other hidden jems....all these areas even those that are suitable as family riding areas demand respect and proper AVY and riding equiptment...you are in the mountians...playsafe.
For info on riding conditions and guides contact the Revelstoke snowmobile club.

Some rules of the backcountry since we will have a pretty broad based group of folks...
QUOTE
These tips came from the Avalanche Safety pamphlet from Alaska. When you are heading into the area that you want to high mark, you should be alert to the following signs of instability:
1) Watch for recent avalanches - don’t play on similar, unreleased slopes.
2) Watch for amount of new snow or wind loading on leeward slopes.
3) Beware of rain. If it is raining it will weaken the snow quickly but will stabilize when refrozen.
4) Listen for whumping noises, you may even feel it when you get a group of sleds together in one spot. The extra load causes the collapse of a weaker buried layer of snow. This could be the layer that lets go and allows a slab to release. This collapse of a weak layer can actually travel a long way and release a large slope that you are not actually on. The release could have a track long enough to catch your group.
5) Watch for shooting cracks in the snow, this shows the snow is ripe for fracturing.
6) Does the snow have a hollow sound to it? This could indicate a buried weak layer.
7) Is the temperature warming quickly? This will weaken snow quickly.
Here is a good link from BCSF site...
http://www.bcsf.org/safety/avalanche-aware...ld-save-a-life/QUOTE
1) Choose slopes that have been stripped by wind (windward) over slopes that have been loaded (leeward). Snow that is rock hard can still avalanche if it is poorly bonded to layers below. Be wary of steep, smooth, leeward slopes.
2) Start out on the less steep slope angles and on the side of a slope instead of center-punching it. Do your first runs low and fast rather than maximizing your commitment and exposure by climbing as high as possible right away. If possible, do your first runs from the top down to get a feel for the snow and improve your chances of escape.
3) Always turn towards the edge of a slope rather than turning towards the middle.
4) If unsure of the snow stability, favour slopes that have recently avalanched over those that have not yet slid. You can still sled on unstable days — just chose slopes less than 25 degrees that are not connected to anything steeper.
5) Do not approach steep convex rollovers or aim right for a large rock or tree isolated in the middle of a steep slope unless you know the snow is stable. These are places where the snow pack is under greater stress, and thus where you are more likely to trigger a slide. Also be suspicious of steep area where the snow is shallow and weaker.
6) Avoid deadly terrain traps such as gullies, steep-sided creek bottoms, or slopes that end in depressions because of the high probability of a deep burial. Do not ride on slopes with cliffs below. Favour slopes that are fan- shaped at the bottom and do not have obstacles like rocks or trees to crash into. Concave bowls are nasty traps because the fracture propagates around the slope and all the debris collects at the bottom. This is why it is not uncommon for snowmobilers to be buried under 10 to 30 feet of debris.
7) Allow only one rider at a time on the slope. If a person gets stuck, DO NOT SEND A SECOND SLEDDER TO HELP!!!! Fact: Roughly 33% of snowmobile fatalities occur when a sled is stuck. About 34% involve more than one machine on a slope at the time of the avalanche. It is common for a second rider to turn above the stuck person and trigger an avalanche onto the sitting duck below.
8) Everyone should be watching the climber from a safe spot.
9) Always park well away from the bottom of steep slopes. Do not count on being able to outrun a slide. Get in the habit of parking parallel rather than one behind the other, have your machine pointing away from the avalanche path, and always have the kill switch up.

Do I need to reach the 1000 post mark to be invited, or is dealing with an 07 REV enough street cred?
Looks like a great excuse to hit Revy, and maybe show up early for some Turbo-Al sled treatment!
I'll help out how ever I can, not sure what to offer. I can put up the BRP banners... they are paying for all the gas right?

TO ALL COMING FROM OUT OF PROVINCE,ITS A GOOD IDEA and LESS HEAD ACHES.
Make sure that you make photocopies of your registrations and proof of ownership to take along of all your sleds, incase they ask at the border but also you maybe checked on the trail.I suggest that you keep a copy in the glove box of the vehicle and a copy in a sealed ziploc for each sled.
In BC sledders must carry proof of ownership with the sled, while BC resident must by law have their sled registered (yellow # decal)and carry the propper documents with the sled. They do check and at times with road blocks.
So photocopy 2 copies for each sled, one goes in your vehicle the other with the sled......it could save you alot of head aches.
Every one should be doing this if your coming to BC....dont know about anywhere else....OOOOOHHH ya make sure things are well secured......it just seems that sleds grow legs around here actually the whole rig,not to scare anyone but be aware, secure them well inclueding trailers and vehicle.Vehicle dissablers work great.
I would realy hate to hear someone got ripped off.

Well we are now in Jan. and i'am now going to be considering riders for Friday March the 6 for our backcountry extreme ride.Part of the Dootalk ride.
There are only limited entry allowed. 6 riders max.
You will be required full avy equiptment for this ride and backcountry experience would be nice. Please let me know if your interested.
FYI. this ride is more suitable for the extremist and it can be taken to those levels depending on the wishes of the riders.
The ride and level of extreme will pend on weather conditions and group.
