For me, layers are the way to go. The days are short during the early/mid season. The mornings are COLD as are the nights. I've found that the late season riding is a blast. I was way to eager to get out and ride last year. Learned that the late season riding provides longer days, milder temps and better snow.

Last year was my first year riding as I'd moved here from Michigan in October 07. The gear I wore was the same gear as I wore in MI. A lot of guys where the MX helmets and googles up here but I still like my Doo Modular helmet. Other than that under armor helps whick the sweat away from your body when you ride aggressive and keeps you from getting too cold when you cool down. Other than that I wear a sweatshirt, sweatpants and then my coldwave coat and pants.....

Warmth and comfort... Whatever that means to you. Just try not to look like Sled Ed.. wink.gif

Have fun! The season is upon us.

Two words of caution..... Cotton Kills.

Avoid as much as you can. No Blue jeans, no sweats unless they're a polyester fleece. Cotton stays wet when it gets wet if something happens (fall in lake, stream; overflow; sweat over-exertion etc) fleece can be rung out and will maintain more of it's heat retention ability. Don't have to spend a lot either, I've found good polyester fleece at Walmart and at Sportsmans Warehouse (look at fishing wader liner pants)

Even our trail system is far from most roads/civilization, you can ride farther in a half hour than you can walk out in a day, and don't count on a cell phone.

Don't take a chance, just be smart.
