A search of DooTalk and does not locate a single review or owner comment of any of the replacement rear suspensions. Has anyone here ridden on the Timbersled Mtn Tamer XP, the Tom's Evolution Air Rear Suspension or any other lighter-weight, improved geometry rear suspension?

  • What did you ride on?
  • Did you weigh the OEM and the replacement? What weight saving?
  • Did the replacement suspension solve the XP rear sag problem?
  • Did the replacement suspension make carving in firm snow better?
  • How was the fit and function of the replacement?
  • How long did it take to exchange the suspension?
  • Any comments, pro or con.

Thanks

I Would love to know also. Everyone seems to want to talk about the little things but never about a major thing like a suspension. Maybe no one has done it but I doubt it or these companies would not be in business. Maybe it is that good and once you have done it you dont want anyone to know the secret.

I've corresponded with Toms and plan on getting the evolution air for my shorty. He says it will be ready in December.

There are other threads with input from people that have the holz and timbersled skids.

The general consensus sems to be that they work great for powder and climbing, but aren't the best for big air.

I did testing for Tom on the Evolution air on 08 XP.
You save 9lbs plus if you just change parts up to 13lbs if you junk the extra wheels.
Yes it did solve the rear sag problem, Which is good my 09 XP still has sag front and rear.
Carving in frim snow is up to you you have the ability to set the air spring anyway you want ,with the right balance the sled will act in many different ways.Carving means many different things I don't want to mislead anyone I did all my riding on 08 Xp and a mod Viper so I can't compare to other sleds.
Fit and function? The parts I tested were the frist prototypes ,they fit well.
Suspension exchange.About 1 1/2 hrs
Talk is cheap you need to ride this set up.For the frist time we have the ability to set the sled to the snow, and are riding styles without the 40 ft trailer full of springs.

X2...hope to have one on a Gade in early season
soul!
i have the ez ryde on my 08 154 xp
it did everything better then my freinds on their stock 154 xp setups

i ride west coast mountains

riding out of the mountains at the end of the day in the big whoops is way nice
it has only two inside rear wheels and the turning is easier and you dont really sacrifice anything

the customer support is good as they always answer phone or call back
installation was relatively strait forward and they provide a good template

you can run the track tighter and there is way less snow packed in there its just not like anything else

about 2700 bucks i think with shipping and would buy it again

Glad you had good luck. We had two-we had problems-was unwilling to take it back to the manufacturer to have it set up. Turned out to be shocks that wouldn't compress. Very unhappy with manufacturer and his ability to do what he said he would do. Buy HOLTZ for deep snow.
