Long time Polaris dealer Oquossoc Marine in neighboring Oquossoc is now also a Ski Doo/Sea Doo/Evinrude dealership, putting BRP back in one of Maine's most popular recreational hot-spots.

I always figured it would happen, just wondered when, who, and how.

From what I was told it came with new ownership at Oquossoc Marine.

Not sure Bammer... and I'll never really know unless I have issues while I'm up there... but it would sure beat having to drive to Farmington at least.... I'd hope.

My husband and I have had dealings with "the former owner" of this establishment a couple of years ago. If the ownership is still the same I would totally steer clear of this place-the service is horrible and they charge you for work they don't do-a real rip off joint.

We both had Poos at the time (our first sleds)-my husbands needed a lot of repair to the suspension, paid the $1100 for the work on the suspension-bolts missing, parts missing etc. I had them get mine ready for the season a couple of seasons -about $300 - and the sled ran like crap. I called the service manager and told him unless someone came to me (over an hour away) and fixed this sled I was going to call the credit card company and have the charges reversed (almost an $800 bill with my husbands pre season work). Well, the service manager show up, took one look at the sled-put it in the back of his truck, delivered it back to me-AND addmitted that the work that we paid for wasn't performed.

On a cheery note, a bunch of us rode up to Rangeley from jay two seasons ago. Trails were toast as it was very close to the last weekend of riding. but i digress. One of our party figured out they had lost a suspension bolt on a CAT, imagine that. Anyway, when we got to Oquossuc, they went into the Poo dealership, they gave us a couple bolts to try and then tools to install them and then charged us only for the one bolt, something like $2. I thought that was nice of them.

From what I know and have heard unless the place has been sold I would still stay away...

We rode Rangeley towards the end of the season and my buddies Polaris had some issues with the recoil breaking, and it not running right. They took it right in, and did a bunch of work on it while about 5 of us were in the back watching. A pretty wirey guy in his mid to late 40's was doing the work and was VERY good at what he was doing, also extremely knowledgeable. The sled was money after he was done with it. They seemed very accomodating and very friendly to us.

Well... that IS part of the way the story came down to me... the joint was sold and the new ownership brought in BRP.

Of course me being the idiot I am, I forgot to verify that at the Augusta show. laugh.gif

I can verify that there are new owners at Oquossoc Marine. I talked to the new owner and ordered an 09 TNT 600SDI. They gave me a really good price as well and threw in a few extras at their cost. biggrin.gif

Being a die hard Poo man and having stayed in Rangeley and Oqoussoc I've had many dealings with Oqoussoc Marine. NOTHING BUT GOOD THINGS TO SAY. I'm from MA and everytime I've gone up there they've been nothing but top notch to me, my family and my friends. They've even shipped stuff to my house in MA.
You're asking why a poo man is on Doo Talk? I put a deposit on a Renegade 600 from Oqoussoc Marine last month and plan on picking it up after Thanksgiving.
Would not have switched and bought in MA from my "local" dealer, would have stayed with poo. In my opinion if the new owners run their business and treat their customers anything like Larry did, they will be very successful.
Can't wait to pull my mug down at the Four Seasons and have a few. Snow can't get here soon enough.

I gotta come in on this. Oqoussoc Marina is one up and coming Ski Doo dealer. I recently bought an 09 TNT 600Etec from them and they bent over backwards to make sure I was happy. I ran Twin Pines SkiDoo up in Millinocket back in the late 70's and followed that up with being SkiDoos New England service and warranty mgr. in the early 80's. Of all the dealers I have dealt with since then Oquossoc Marina is the best. They are new to Ski Doo and they are still on the learning curve, but their hearts are in the right place, and they are definately customer oriented! Not to mention having a Ski Doo dealer 8 miles from home.

Need to add another 2 cents to this....

Never had to deal with the previous ownership 'cause I've never had a busted Polaris in Rangeley... but over Snodeo weekend an intake boot tore on the Kid's 03 ZX 500...

So, Saturday morning I made a run over to Oquossoc Marine... now, people have complained about service with the previous ownership... but, with the new management over there I sure can't complain... even though they ended up not being able to help me out they sure turned the joint upside down trying... the computer said they had a pair of the boots... and the two guys in the parts dept near destroyed the place trying to find 'em... to no avail, but they sure gave it their best shot... no complaints here.

Thanks again for giving it your best try guys.

..... and now for the "rest of the story".....

No answer on the phone down at Frechette's in Dixfield... so it was MacGyver time... had some cloth tape in the toolbox... grabbed a tube of silicone at the local auto parts joint... saturated the tape with it as I wrapped it around and around the boot... once I figured I had enough to hold off the leak for the weekend, I slopped the rest of about a half tube around the rest of the boot... presto... 1800 RPM at idle the rest of the weekend & the kid was back to digging as many trenches on the sides of trails as he could find places to do it... one of which his mother fell into. laugh.gif

right_on.gif right_on.gif for MacGuyver!!!

I ran over to Oquossoc Marine, Saturday night. My better half broke one of my ski handles on her maiden voyage. They didn't have the silver ones in stock. However, they were VERY helpful. They said if I ended up buying another color handle, I could pull the sled inside, use their tools and replace the handle. I thought that was pretty decent of 'em.

On the way back to the Farmhouse Inn (where we were staying), I dropped in on Dix, BroadwayBabe and their son. Was a pleasure to meet y'all!

over the weekend we had amazing service and assistance at oquossoc. my friend thought he blew his intake boots as well, they pulled it in found a ton of ice melted it, checked his boots, and charged minimally for the ice melting... i would go back there anytime im in the area if i needed anything.

huh....i had a similar situation last weekend there with a opposite result dry.gif called 3 times to make sure they had parts and was told they did. was full ready for a total rebuild at a buddies camp up there so i drove over only to find they are completly unorganized and not the caliber i am used to in jackman. eventhought they had 4 pistons sitting right there would not sell them to me because they were set aside for a customer who's sled wasn't there yet. oh well, not sure i will be going there again.
