A Buddy of mine is looking to have his 1998 670/700 mxz engine rebuilt, blew the motor on the lake his first ride of the year trying to keep up with the big dogs. going about 90mph and just siezed up on him, funny and hell for us but if there are any local gus out there that could give us an idea of what a total rebuild would cost and if you are close enough to do it for him? He lives in Lexington, Ma

When it first happend you could not even pull at all siezed and would not budge but know he says it actually almost Started? Not sure how thats possible but any ideas?

Sounds like a cold seize.

Not enough warm up time, and the hard rund across the lake heated the pistons up quicker than the cylinders The pistons expand quicker than the cylinders causing it to seize. Its quite possible that it will turn over now, but the head should be pulled to check out the top end and fix any damage, and see if the cylinders can be salvaged before scoring them.
