Ip riding has been a treat. the grooming is frequent and the traffic is light. I just spent 9 days up there and every day was great except the rain last week. The trails held up very well to the rain and they groomed eveything from Derby to Canaan while it was soft so its real fast and hard now. There is some ice so a bit of caution in the turns is warranted. We did the 105s on Sunday, what an awesome fast ride!!!

They even have a few bars now. I don't know if anyone else has checked out the American Legion in town but you are welcome, its clean, cheap and very friendly to snowmobilers. The Buck and Doe is now the Grand Trunk Tavern with pretty good food. Also, Valentines is now open next to the Chevy dealership with food and a liquor license, and the Clyde River Inn now has a Bar/Lounge open as well.

Teddy is ever present but the good news is that a guy named Bucky Tardiff is running against him in the next election for Constable and it looks like he has got a good chance of beating Teddy. He is campaigning for "Sensible Law Enforcement". Times are tough with inflation (yes I said it) in Vermont and I think tourism in Island Pond may actually make a comeback.

I have been riding in IP for 13 years and this is the best I've seen it in 10 years. The end of the season is close at hand but if your looking for a trip up 91, the extra hour is worth it for some really good conditions.

Of course it could all change next week. luvmyrev.gif

Great Pics! That one looks like the 2000 trail up in the thin trees. I went through there after a 10" snowfall and couldn't tell where the trail was. The birds are cool. I'll have to take the kids up there and try to get them to come in. Any hints?
