My fiance and I are going out this weekend!!! Going out to central PA and never been there. Can anyone give me some places maybe to drop off at and/or some good places to ride? I was thinking of the Black Moshannon Park. I heard they have poker run this weekend. Any other places? could anyone offer me suggestions? I'm not originally from around here so some suggestions and how to get to the best drop off spot in that area would be greatly appreaciated guys and maybe a good place to stay for the night if anyone knows a good place in the areas also. (From MI but in the Navy and I snowmobiled once at Hickory Run State Park last year. That's all that I've done in PA.) Thanks for the help and hope everyone gets out this weekend!!!

There seem to be more people posting on trailconditions.com than on here. I'm not sure what area of PA you are in, but RB Winter SP is supposed to be good now. It is directly west of Lewisbur.

We like the Grand Canyon in Tioga county near Ansonia. You could stay at Colton Point or Coach Stop Inn, both are near Ansonia, but have Wellsboro addresses.

Trail maps and conditions are on the DCNR's website http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/forestry/snowm.../snowindex.aspx

There are also a couple club websites that may help you : http://pagrandcanyonsnowmobileclub.com/index.html or http://pcscriders.com/

The Canyon has some great riding right now. Id reserve a place to stay though. It will get busy this weekend from the snowmobilers. We have a hot dog run going on this Saturday at the clubhouse. Free hot dogs to all that stop. Go to www.pagrandcanyonsnowmobileclub.com and check out the conditions, or view sno cams. I will try to be at the clubhouse most of the morning.

I say that if you can head farther north I would as mentioned above. If you want to ride in Central PA here is what I can tell you. I rode Black Moshannon area last night (2/14) and it was O.K. the groomer has been out and the trails were VERY smooth. I must say they did a good job of getting them smooth (panned a little to heavy I think but overall good job). With the trails panned there is 2-4 inches of HARD pack base. You will hit some of the bigger rocks but not too many. There is a poker run and the trails I don't think will hold up to all the traffic so you will want to ride early if possible. I would rate it FAIR but this winter you will just have to take fair and ride it.
Canyon Rider
Just got back today from riding the canyon. The trails are getting rode hard. They are not too bad, but the further south you get, the thinner the trails get, still ridable, but thin in the middle starting to turn brownish in the middle. The entrance at Ansonia up to the top isnt too bad, the corners are thin and quite icy. Most all of the canyon trails are good, starting to get bumpy, but the groomers will be out in full force tonight. The Grand Canyon Snowmobile Club is having a Hot Dog Run tomorrow, Sat. Free Hot Dogs to all riders. Maybe I will see some of you there.
