So I am trying to plan a trip to your fair province.
I want to do some sledding around the Calgary (specifically Airdrie area).
I don't mind trailering for an hour or so from Airdrie in the mornings before I ride.
I heard that Waiporous (sp) is nice. Also the Ghost Lake area.
I have also heard about Bragg Creek/McLean Creek being nice.
Other than that, I am not familiar with AB. Can anyone tell me if these place are nice to ride. How are the snow conditions? and are there any other good place within an hour or so of Calgary?

try the cnosnest pass a little better than an hour

isn't crowsnest pass around 200 km from Calgary?

I was just at crownest this weekend snow was great I think worth the extra kms

I don't think you'll find good snow within an hour of town. I was dirt biking in Waiparous two weeks ago. There was more dirt than snow/ice.

The good stuff is in Crowsnest(2.5 hours) or out to Golden BC (3 hours).

What about Ghost Lake?
Anyone know what it is like there.
It looks like we may have to change our plans and do Golden or something.
Any word on Kananaskis?

Not really any snow around Calgary, if your gonna have to travel anyway, maybe have a look at the Inn on the Border, they're on the crowsnest past blairmore, http://www.innontheborder.com/
you can stay there and sled right from your door, really nice folks there too, reasonable prices, AWSOME Prime Rib, great riding too. Thats my 2 cents worth

The reason that I wanted to be around Calgary is that I have free places to stay in Airdrie and Canmore. Looking to save a few bucks. But you gotta go where the snow is right?
