I saw some pics in Snow Goer Canada & the riders had their permits on the LH side of the hood. On our sleds, the only glossy panel (easier to apply permit) is the hood & that's where we have our registration #s & the val' tag.

This is what I found on the FCMQ website:

Permit placement

The permit is valid only when permanently affixed on the snowmobile. General Rules of the FCMQ (article 11) specify that the permit must be affixed on the left side of the cab.

Does anyone know if there is a problem putting the permit on the w/s? We'll only be in Quebec for 2 days during our trip.

Also, I read elsewhere that a solidly mounted mirror (the glove/mitt type don't cut it) on the LH side is also a requirement. That's not a problem for me, bro & the sister in law as our sleds have mirrors. The problem is my buddy who is very meticulous when it comes to his sled. He's never had mirrors on his sleds, so I doubt he'll start this year w/ his new Apex.

Has anyone w/o mirrors been stopped by the trail patrol or SQ and hassled? IMO, I can't see how they can hassle out of province sledders because our sleds are legal in Ontario, they should be legal in Quebec.

as FCMQ ask on the left hand side hood ,, but in the w/sheild is acceptable, the important is as to be in sigth easely by the left,, yes it's thrue for the mirror, hand/ glove mirror not legal ,, but i'm a trail patrol mysefl ,most of the time we just advise ,SQ & municipal law enforcement will like you say hassled.... so personally i use this kind of mirror fixe at the end of handlebar whit velcro , and it cost only $20 , you may found or ordor it from your local skid or vtt dealer or ordor it from http://www.royaldistributing.com/07/ page 167 of spring/fall 07 cat,, art no: 12-167, clic on shop on line at top center of the home page

sorry for my english,

Thanks for the info. Don't worry, it's better than my french wink.gif

the past couple years, I have had the permit on my windshield above my ontario sticker.....and never a problem. Like Laper said, its more about showing you have a sticker than where you put in on the sled. As for the mirror, no one in the group I rode with ever had a problem with the hand mirror....and we have been stopped.

Last year I put my sticker on the plastic that surrounded the top of the gas tank area and didn't have any issues.

They doo a lot of riding type patrols, look for riders in orange safety vests so be prepared and stop when they motion for you to. They have all always been very courteous and just need to be able to see the sticker from the left side and never seemed to particular where it was so long as it was valid and visible.

i have my trailpass behind the wind shield, been stopped lots, never had a problem.
my buddy has received a warning about the mirrors, but we've always found the fmcq boys and (girls)
to be very friendly, helpful and courteous.
i probably won't even buy an ontario pass this year, last 2 years, probably logged 4700 quebec miles and 400 ontario miles. and the ontario miles, i had to force my machine across windblown, bare, farmers fields and muddy gravel filled ditches. i know that northern ont can be awesome, but not much compares to the clova-val d'ors-chibougamou loop..

For the permit just about anywhere on the left side of cab if fine as long as they can see it clearly, for the mirror that is hard to tell, all depends if the guy or girl is feeling good. Some of them can go on a power trip sometimes but usually if you are from out of the province they will only give you a verbal warning.

Mine is on the windshield. i went through a checkpoint, with no problem (and no mirrors)

Why is there such a resistance to mirrors?? Just doesn't make any sense. Rational people wouldn't dream of operating their car without them. Once a person rides with decent mirrors, they wouldn't ride without them.

Buddy brought his sled up & lo & behold he had a pair of Yammi mirrors for the sled. I had forgotten to tell him he was going to need them in Quebec. I guess he was tired of getting stuck @ the back of the group.
