I just bought a couple of sleds over the summer for my wife and I. We live in the Akron, OH area and I was wondering who you use for your parts, service, etc? Is there a good local dealer?
Polardoo
You have a dealer in Mansfield though I have never used them. Since Saks dropped doo I am pretty much stuck with J&J's in Huron. They often have good deals on parts but their service is suspect. A bit of a drive for you though I am just south of Cleveland in Olmsted Falls. Loudermilks I think is still a doo dealer. Go to the skidoo site and punch in your zip into the dealer locater!

Thanks for the advice. When I was looking for sleds, I called J&J and they really didn't seem to interested in answering my questions, maybe I caught them on a bad day. I have spoken with Loudermilk and get out to Ashtabula every few weeks, so they may be my choice if needed.
What about buying parts and accessories from ShadeTree? Are their prices competitive, etc.?

Being an Ohio guy, where do you typically ride? Any advice on great spots for my wife and I to hit?

Thanks.

If you buy from j&j go to their ebay store it is cheaper than the show room prices. As for service forget j&j there service is really a joke, and if your traveling 50 miles to get there you will end up traveling 300 miles or 6 times before it is possibly fixed right. RPM is in Mansfield but is a newer dealer so I'm not sure about them. If you need help doing it yourself go to the general discussion and post what you need, someone will help you out. If you want good prices on parts & clothing go to the snow show in Novi, Michigan. It is usually the first weekend in November and about 3 + hour drive. We ride the U.P., we like the Newberry area but we stay out of town because of a 11pm curfew.

I just bought a new sled from RPM motorsports in Mansfield OH. They have great prices and state that their service department is really good, that will have to be determined. They were great to deal with. I mainly dealt with Dave and he was a real pleasure to work with. Bill is the owner and he seems really good to. If you are looking for a great deal on a new sled or leftover new sled, I highly recomend them. Tell them Attila recommend them.

Not taking away from local dealers as I try to get from them first, but sometimes your in a pinch (you know needed the part yesterday). Sometimes the dealer doesn't have the item in stock and by the time they order it in and receive it it could be up to a week. That said, try Ingles Performance (www.inglesperformance.com) as they usually have it in stock. The have an online parts finder also. I've had very good luck with them even being in MI. It's doesn't hurt to have more than one source for parts. Oh and congrad's on the sleds.

I bought a 2006 Ski Doo GTX 500ss. It's mainly for my wife so that she can ride the kids on the back. They have a number of Rev MXZ and Blizzards left and I just wish I could buy one of the those as well, but I think my wife would kill me if I did. I have a couple of MXZ's that I ride myself.

Hey Tim,

Yeah I heard. Dave told me some guy was in there after Thanksgiving and wanted to buy that sled. I will say the dealership held it's word because I had to have the wife give me the final okay on it. Tell your friend I'm sorry. However I did notice that they are advertizing some addtional 2-ups on traderonline. I know there is another dealership in northwest OH that has some 2-ups leftover. I think one is a 600HO SDI and an 800HO. I don't know if he's looking for something like that.
Where do you do most of your riding? What model sleds do you ride?

Atilla-

My wife has a 550 rev and I have a 500SS rev. We ride in Western Ny and sometimes PA, about a 3 hour drive, nice trails. My friend that was going to buy your sled ended up buying a 2007 600SDI GTX limited for 6900. Nice sled. My wifes dad has a 500SS gtx.....I think it rides great.

That's great, where did he wind up buying it at? I was going to say that there is a 500SS GTX 2-up on ebay which has less than 800miles on it and looks mint which is probably going to go for less than $5200. Anyway, that is a great price what he got that 600 for. I really preferred that model, but I couldn't find any at the time. I would love to have the 2+1 seat on mine.
I also ride in Western NY and sometimes PA. How do you like the 500SS motor? I wanted to find a sled that would be easy for my wife to ride. I hope I made the right choice with the GTX.
Do you service your own sleds or do you take it somewhere and if you do, where?

Attila-

I do most of my own work. I do my best to keep my wrenching to just airplanes though. My friend bought the sled in Lima. I love my 500SS. I would buy another one if we were not out of money from our honeymoon. I have my wife's dad's sled at loudermilk right now. I'm curious to see how they do.

Tim,

Let me know what you think of their service. I'll be curious to know. I let you know how well RPM motorsports does in prepping my sled. I also have a mechanic up in Huron that I have taken my sleds to that has done a great job on my sleds and he's very resonable. I'm really looking forward to riding my wifes new sled. I also have a 2002 MXZ 800 X that I bought at the end of last season that I haven't even ridden yet and am very anxious to ride that one as well. Hopefully it will be a great season.

I pay about 5% over dealer cost. Ordering some stuff before the end of the year, belts etc. If you guys want anything PM me.

I go to Loudermilk. Hal and his brother are both excellent to deal with. I would not hesitate to send anybody there.

RPM is now out of business! Dave has started his own shop somewhere in town, I will try to update when I get more details.

I talked to Dave this morning and the way it looks is all inventory is being taken in by J&J Sales (360 Powersports) and American PowerSports. It's a shame what happened there. Unfortunately Dave tried everything he could to take over the business but it just didn't work out with the former owner. I think Dave is going to try to make it work elsewhere, just don't know where yet. He really is a great guy. I hope it works out for him.

For those of you that used to go to RPM, Dave has now got his own shop started. He does not have any new inventory, but is doing service. I dropped a sled off to him for service today. Heres the details; Central Powersports- 419-529-2500. The shop is located near Rt 30 and Trimble Rd exit in Mansfeild.

Theres a new shop open in mansfield to replace the old RPM Motorsports . The information is as follows.

Central Powersports
300 Stadium Street
Mansfield Oh, 44906
419-529-2500

I hear some of technicians from RPM opened it. They don't have sales yet but that just means you won't get pushed to the side for a new unit prep!
Kingsville Doo Nut
