Wondering how many area riders would be interested in a ride in the SE MN (Preston) neck of the woods? I know there are a few members in this area and thought it would be a good idea to plan a ride if we get decent conditions. Anybody that wanted to make the drive would be more than welcome. Have a few buddies that live up around the Twin Cities who would probably be interested as well.
There is a nice motel in town, room at my house, etc... Have an area on my property to park trailers/vehicles.
Of course this is all dependent upon riding conditions, so a date is still up in the air... Just thought that I would throw it out there.
Please let me know your thoughts/interest when you get a chance.

I heard on the news last night that parts of SE Mn could get up to 3-6" today. I work in the south metro so it wouldn't be too far of a drive for me. I might be up for a little pre-season ditch riding if you guys get enough to go. (for me, I'll ride when there's anything 3" and up). What particular roads or ditchline would you recommend. Are there any nice wide ditches in that neck of the woods? Let us know how much snow falls today and post a pic if you could.

In Rochester, we currently have around 6-7 inches, not as much yet in the SE corner where I live. The majority of the ditches are great for riding. That is what we rode before an organized trail system was established.

Are you a believer now? Hopefully this begins the start of our riding in this area and we are able to build a decent base. Sounds like there was more accumulation in your area than mine.

Received around another 6 inches this past Monday. Trails still need a bit more snow, but the ditches are great for ditch-banging. Put on around 50 miles ditch-banging this past Friday and it was a lot of fun. Should be better with this last snow. Will probably be heading out on Saturday to hit some ditches again.

Not sure on how much we are suppose to receive tonight, but it is coming down right now. Trails are groomed but not in good shape. Put on another 50 miles riding the ditches this past weekend, but we need all we can get to make trail riding good. If we could get another 5-6, trails should be in pretty decent shape with the grooming that has been already done to smooth them out.

I agree, i put on 80 this weeknd, by kasson, and was surprised how nice some of the trails were. I noticed alot of tracks on the trail by my house near chatfield too. Them plowed fields are still brutal.

Waxman could you keep us updated with the snow tonight tommorrow? I might make a run down to Houston-Rushford I've always wanted to ride on bluffs down there but never made it work out. Have you ever ridden Houston-Rushford area at all? I've turkey hunted there and seen the trail markers always figured it would be a blast.

That is the best place to ride in the state if you ask me. I grew up In Caledonia. The only thing is, the trails are a bit narrow. But very nice to ride. I live in Rochester now, hoping for enough snow to ride from here to Caledonia. Just need snow!!

The only problem with the Rushford houston area, is the rocks on the trail, when you go through the bluffs. This is a problem in good snow years, it would really be a problem now. I think your best bet, is to just ride ditches, most are blown full of snow. Sounds like the snow we were supose to get is headed further south

Well, we got our snow and the trails are in great shape here in SE MN. Received another 6-8 from this last storm, not to mention around 25 inches from the previous weeks. Plan on putting a few miles on this weekend. May have a friend from the Twin Cities headed this way to join us.

On Sunday I rode in the Lake City area for the first time. What a great place to ride! The trails had been groomed and only a few spots were rough. Lots of variety too. Hills, views, open stretches, and twisties. Didn't check this forum first. Hope the snow holds up so I can get back there again this year.
