We'd like to get a big group of Doo-Talkers together for a big ride around Tug Hill, NY this year as we attempt to do every year. While everyone loves the idea, few actually commit and show up do to previous engagements, sled issues, etc. This year we're hoping for a big turnout, everyone from the site (and their riding partners) is invited and encouraged to show up and meet some new people from this great site. All riding abilities are welcome. The more the merrier!
I think we could set a date for Saturday, January 27th around 9am so everyone can start planning. This is NOT set in stone, but can act as a basis for the time frame we will be aiming for. This way less people will have Christmas or New Year's arrangements, and (hopefully) we will have a good snow base on the trails. Saturdays seem to work best because few people have to work weekends, and the trails will still be in good shape early Saturday and into the evening because of low traffic.
Meeting location is also up for discussion, but should be some place close to I-81 or Rte. 12 for ease of travel. Redfield (western Tug Hill off I-81) and Constableville (eastern Tug Hill off Rte. 12) are the two most popular towns, as both have large parking areas, are near major highways, have gas, motels, food, etc.
Routes, mileage, and other matters concerning the ride can be discussed as the time gets closer and snow conditions are revealed. For those who can't make the exact date, there are usually several DooTalkers (including myself) in the area around that time willing to hook up and put on some miles with you. While this will be the "Big" ride, no one says we can't have numerous rides.
As I said b4, nothing is certain at this point. So feel free to chime in with your opinions. :revinmotion
