What is the normal static sag on a SCIII or SC4 skid frame? I am asking this because I think maybe I need to replace the torsion springs. The machines both have about 5000 miles.

2-3 inches off the rear bumper when sitting on it.

What about without sitting on the machine?

Nothing, if you pick up the back it should already be there!

I dissagree.

sled just sitting there, no diollys.....flat floor....sit on it.....get off.....pull up on rear bumper....should be able to lift about 2-4 inches....anything less than 1 inch, would be ABNORMAL..

then when you let go of rear bumper, it should sag less than 2 inches....probabbly more like abour 1 inch..but you should be able to push it down by hand an inch or 2 more.

That is about what Ross from Hygear said recently in SnowGoer.

no static sag means over the bars you go in a series of whoops, its just like an MX bike. you have your rider sag and your static sag. I explain this in my suspension sheet given out to all customers,
ian

Maybe mine is like that then, because it handles nice in the whoops. I'll have to check it more closely!!

If you have 5,000 miles on the sled and haven't changed out your springs, then you might wanna think about it before the snow flys. What do they cost....$25 a spring??? Thats $50 well spent as oppose to breaking one out on the trail and having to limp it home or back to the truck. Nothing worse then ruining a days ride because a spring broke. All that could have been prevented if you would have just replaced the springs before the season started.

It sags all the way to the back blocks. Is this too much?
