if i have a complete sdi sled is there anything that i need to worry about when it comes to putting the motor into my 440 chassis. will it be any different then putting a reg 600ho into the chassis. the reason for doing an sdi rather then an ho is i just simply can not find a wrecked 600ho. also i will be racing this in the cross country circut this year will i have any performance difference between the ho and the sdi

I put a 600sdi in my 05 440 and the only problem is finding a place to mount all the electrical parts.

x2 there's just the differences that are related to a SDI such as throttle bodies instead of carbs, battery, different style fuel pump, ect. Nothing big im sure you can get it all done with a little work. As for performance i think it will perform just as well as a HO when set up properly but you will also get better mileage cool.gif

if you have the "donor" sled......just strip the 440, and start transfering...you will need the gas tank, pump, wiring, etc, all transfered over....maybe even some brackets to mount things....It won't be that bad.....you will run into a few qwerks, like with the rear tail light...it will need 2 wires switched around......transfer over all the handle bar controls...make sure everything works.....then if you want to simplify, and go to 440 controls, do it carefully, and research wiring pin outs etc, on here....

What year SDI is it?

I would recomend installing a mach Z electric fuel pump instead of the mechanical pump. You can get a napa one, that is very similar, and make it work.....LOW PSI model...I think it is 4 psi. Wire it into the smae wires that run the in -tank electric pump.

the sled is an 06 sdi why would you recomend using the mach z pump rather then the one with the sdi?

i guess another question would be is how hard would it be for me to make the sdi motor a regular carbed motor?

600HO cylinders, carbs, wiring harness, MPEM and then theres the issue of the flywheel. Apparently the SDI and carb use a different crank end and the flywheel and that aren't interchangeable. I've never messed with an SDI so just going off of what I've heard.
