I use the specialty sled snorkle, you delete the outer air box and use some stock car brake ducting and a window air duct. The outside has snow screen. The snorkle connects with orings to the inner airbox,it seals good and tight.Good flexability and lite. All sensors are in actual air flow. tongue.gif

i looked on the specialty sleds website but couln't find the snorkel.could you give a little more info. or better yet post a couple of pics.

They may not have them anymore but basically it is a piece of 3 in flex tubing attached to a cone shaped plastic piece that attaches to the intake vent on the side panel. The stock side panel is removed. The other end attaches to the inner air box using o-rings that are held in place with a screw on the cone piece on the inner box. The ambient air sensor attaches to the plastic cone which is attached to the intake vent. Clear as mud huh? Sorry I am unable to do pics.

What kind of material are you using in the MAG side vent? It looks slightly different.

The original vents (upper ones) are perferated aluminum with SLP intake material on the inside. The aluminum perferated pieces were part of the Timbersled intake that i modified with bulk SLP intake material.
The larger vents on the hood and side panels are from "Mountian Fit Hoods", "Cool Flow" kit. Basically what it's pet screening on the outside and SLP intake material on the inside.
It allows for alot of air flow, it is noticable. But in fine powder some snow does get in.

The 2 upper vent are different, the MAG side is the Timbersled aluminum vent that i added SLP material. The PTO side is part of the Cool flow kit.

Do you have to remove the clutch or anything else to install/maintain the filters??

You don't have to but its much easier. I do cause i run my nos nozzles on the back side of the pods, i have to disconnect the lines every time i remove my pods, so removing the secondary makes life easier.

Doo not use the timber sled air intake system I used it and after four rides i checked my throttle bodies and they were full of belt dust, of course which goes in the motor, the only good thing i can say about timber sled is they took them back and refunded my money.

Interesting your saying that cause i have had the Timbersled pods on for 3seasons now and have had NO belt dust issues since. Maybe you had a bad filter or more likely a leak in the intake track that the dust can get in. Either way i use them on my RT1k and my wifes 600sdi with no belt dust issues in either sleds. Both these SDI sleds had belt dust issues before.
I also realy recommend the "Outerwaer prefilter soc". Regular maintinance(cleaning) of the soc will ensure proper performance of the filters. Its not a maintinance free system, but then what good performing sled is.

Dude I am just telling you my experience with them, I did not have good luck with them district 7 sled head was trying to get some info from people who have had experience with different air intake systems, and I brought the sled to a skidoo dealer (bickfords sports center Epsom NH) and he said the same thing, that he tried them as well and did not have good luck, Timbersled also claimed 5hp gain which was not true I had the sled on a dyno before and after and lost just under 2hp, and that is documented, so there is your answer........................................

Interesting, mixed reviews on the Timber setup.
I am still leaning towards using the Timbersled setup, anyone else use anything either then this and Uni??
What about K&N?

Did you preoil the filter element?
Timbersled filters use the same element as K&N and in a non dusty enviroment you donot have to oil. But in the case of the RT belt dust issue you do need to preoil the element just like any K&N filter element. Preoil the filter with K&N element filter oil, then slip the socks on and your good to go. It is important to use the socks though, especialy in a moist enviroment. The socks will protect the filters from water and dust.

I use K&N filters on all my toys with awsome performance and engine protection. F-350 powerstroke, Polaris sportsman quad, Northwest jetboat with a 5.7L, Ski-Doo RT1k......all K&N style filters. Preoil, socks and install, good to go.

If you operate in an EXTREME like mud and real heavy dust then i recommend the UNI foam filters that you oil up. HOLY if you do that with your sled.
Plus they filter poorly without the oil and are MESSY. my2cents

I did not pre oil because I talked to timbersled and they said not to, I will say they took the filters back with no problem I wish all the other company's would be that easy.
