Alright guys, I have been wanting to get some protection and have already ruled out Tek-Vest and some others.....mainly due to price and Obama's stimulus plan hasn't kicked in for me yet. dry.gif

So what I have come up with are these protection jerseys.......have a riding buddy with the EVS model and loves it. Then I came across this 661 model and it has me intrigued too. Just looking for some thoughts.

EVS BJ22 ballistic jersey-

SixSixOne Vapor jersey-

--------------------

2005 Summit 800HO 151"- ALL BLACK- 19/45- polished tunnel- Simmons Skis- Idahodoo vents
Muffpot- HPS can- DJ clutch kit- Craiggerbuilt "bag thingy"

I wear this: It's an EVS Revolution 4 i think....

Inside vest:

BUT am thinking of buiying this: Sixsixone Core Saver

Mine is definatly ok, fits great dont even know its not there
But I want something w a little more back protection, which the sixsixone has

I too ruled out the Tekvest and B-Wear
too much $$, VERY uncomfortable (for me) and I think they look like crap
something is better than nothing

I assume you dont want the same ol chatter, "oh buy a tekvest or b-wear casue, blah blah blah".......
So anyone who has an opinon on this type of gear, let's hear your .02, cause I may be in the market for something new

hands down, the 661 vapor. i got to try one on, and it's really comfortable. plus, it zips up the side, rather then right up the front... way more protection. i'm planning on getting one soon too... biggrin.gif

- BMP can
- K&N air filters
- 18/45 gearing
- Duck899's secondary clutch free-floater
- "holy" clutchguard
- headlight delete (little light instead)
- seat diet, all plastic on tunnel pulled
- swaybar delete
- HRP ice scratchers
- multiple styles of venting
- 6" riser, MSR moto bars w/ speedguard handguards
- doo tunnel supports
- multiple hack jobs throughout, many parts intentionally missing...

does it qualify as a mod yet?

Well said, Lund! I'm quite a bit old school and don't ride as hard as I once did but even in the olden days I couldn't of dreamed up a reason for chest protection. I mean those were the days of the felt shoulder pads and blocking shots, etc.....we must have eaten more of the good things in the olden days TgC_emoticon142.gif

I picked up a new brp branded tek vest for 150 shipped off ebay. Deals are out there. lots of protection in the front an side of the chest. A few friends using a copy of the 661 jersey (can't remember brand but exactly the same) - it's nice, has shoulder pads, elbow pads and back protection, but the chest protection is very small and light duty. for me, banging my chest or below off the bars is more real than my shoulder hitting something other than the ground.

I would like to see the EVS model in person as it looks like it covers more.

J,

Chainlove.com has been blowing out some 661 pressure suits at half price lately; just have to wait for it to pop up on the site. I have the O'Neal version and won't ride without it. Highly recommended.

Have FUN!

I always wore a 661 vest that looks like the inside of enis750's EVS chest protector. Worked nice but was sometimes awkward with a back pack then I got a TEKVEST which I love. It is super warm and works well under my jacket but still a little uncomfortable with a pack and beacon. If I was going to do it over again I would go with something like the 661 Core Saver. Seems like it will over plenty of protection and a little less bulky so you could wear jackets over it and a pack and beacon wouldn't be thrown off too much.

Yeah that was recommended by another friend as well, so I will keep my eyes out. Thanks G! To this day I still wish I could've stuck around that extra day and taken that ride with you over to Baker or wherever it was. That was a fun night of hanging out and talking sleds.

I go pretty low tech and just use my 70 dollar FOX chest protector that I use dirt biking. I wear it under my jacket and I hardly notice it is there. Until I scorpion oner the bars that is.....

I tried the core saver and didn't like it its very hard to get on and off, I have just changed over to a Acerbis Roost protector. Not sure why they call it that it is identical to the core saver accept it has a zipper in the front to get it on and off, the kidney belt is a bit larger as well. The price was only 160 here in B.C. a bit less the the core saver was. Good hunting
