Sled:2009 Renegade 800 X

I brought my new 09 MXZ Gade 800 X home on Friday. This is my first Ski Doo, coming from A/C. Today I was checking over my new sled and looking at the clutch. I wanted to take the belt off so I knew how to do it and clean the clutch. I attemtped to loosen the locking bolt to loosen the sheaves. However, I was not able to get my socket around the bolt. Upon looking inside the hole of the plastic adjuster, I saw the bolt was almost flush with the back of the plastic adjuster. There is no way a socket will fit over the bolt with it almost flush with the back of the plastic adjuster. Anyone else have this problem? Is this normal or did some one tighen the bolt to tight at the factory or dealership. Is there an easy fix or should I take it back to where I bought it, by the way a three hour drive.

Thanks Chad

you don't need a socket to remove the belt. there is a tool in your tool kit that screws into your secondary to loosen the sheaves, check your owners manual.

looks like it's been overtightened, see if they will send you a new one. To get the old one out get a fine thread bolt that fits in the middle, locktite it in let it sit and when you turn it out the other piece should come with it.

According to the mannual I have to loosen the bolt in question before I can remove the belt. Does this make sense? Is there a newer updated metal adjuster that replaces the plastic one?

You loosen the bolt on the inside then tighten the plastic adjuster with the "Two Pronged Tool." The inside bolt is way too tight.

take it back to the dealer , they should warranty out that old style adjuster for the new metal one. if they dont i think its like 40 bucks. i bought one but didnt have the special socket to tighten it , took it in and they torqued it for me and gave me a refund on it after getting an earful from him saying i should have just brought it in to him.

good service guys are hard to find , glad ive got one !!!!

service manager of ER ? Dave ? or wasilla ? jason i think is his name ?

Isreal from Wasilla actually was the one to fix my sled that AMDS had 6 attempts at

great tech on bikes or sleds first met him when he worked at Anchorage Suzuki AC , that guy really knows his stuff

ive had nothing but great dealing with both CC's so far even before i starting spending money with them and even though i didnt buy my sled from them.

honest guys , straight to the point and actually have some knowledge on the products they sell what more could you ask for ?!?!

If you get the new type of adjuster. Make sure to put loctite on the threads. If the adjuster come loose during WOT operation it could injure the driver

Did you use the double ended socket in your tool kit? A regular socket depending on the brand won't allow complete hold around a bolt until 1/4 inch in. The stock one will.

YA I tried the one in the tool kit first and then my socket. Talked to the dealer today and they are willing to send me the newer aluminum one. I will make sure to put some locktite on the bolt.
