This is a subject I am very knowledgeable on. My mothers side of the family both uncles and grandpa have the salvage buyers license. They run body shops and salvage yards. We have bought sleds from these auctions that are easy fixes to ride. All my work trucks and personal truck is salvage. Main reason cost, but never buy ones that are killed. 2008 f250 single cab4*4 9k fixed 15000 mi bought my personal 2005 king ranch diesel 4 door 10000mi 2 yrs ago fixed 20k. My point being this saves a ton of money HOWEVER plan on keeping whatever you buy or only ride it for a yr and dump it so you can give it away breaking even. Mom dirives a 04 rex X now for the last 4 years has 5000 mi on it but on had 4k in it fixed. PM if you have any more questions on salvage

kinda hard to have a salvage title on a sled that doesn't have a title (at least in NY)

I am not sure how you would ever know you were buying a salvaged sled. i had one totaled because the crack in the hood would cost more to fix than it was worth (hood + decals). To anyone buying it it looked like a 2 inch crack in a hood, no big deal.
