How do you ride? Do you have physical issues pulling the 800 over? Worried about weight? Do you really want to spend the extra $$$ for the option?

These are all Q's i'd ask before getting it...

BECAREFUL!!

If you opt for E-start from the factory (spring orders) you lose your recoil!! I can only guess how much it costs to add the recoil, the brackets, and cut a hole in the panel. Next time I will add it after purchase like we did last year to retain back up recoil.

Once you go e-start you'll never look back!!!

I was hearing it was bit under 200 bucks to add the recoil yourself. Not sure, I'm not planning on buying new anytime soon but thought I came across that reading.

Adding recoil later is cheaper overall than adding estart later if I remember right from last year. You can add recoil and not cut the hole in your panel; just leave it under for emergencies.

I've never had e-start and there is something about pulling your sled over that is part of the hobby.

I got ride of mine after a couple of seasons..never looked back. There's just something cool about tugging on a rope to turn over your engine. It's the connection I think!

I'm not sure what you guys are talking about. I snow checked my 09 XP 800r X sled and ordered it with electric start and I got both electric and pull cord. I wasn't going to get the electric start but the dealer said Doo was offering it at a discount if I ordered it on my snow check for the factory to install so I got it for resale. My buddy ordered the same sled from a dealer in a different state and he got the same setup as me and the sled came with both electric and pull cord. Sled starts pretty easy I think with the cord.

if you have enough ambition to muscle around an 800cc sled, you'd better have the muscle to pull the darn thing over!!! it's part of the sport dude!!! sorry, but that's just my opinion on the subject. all it does is make you lazy and adds un-needed weight, IMO.

better know how to wrap the rope around your primary if the E-Start quits when it's -20 out,
Craig
