i have a 2008 gsx 500ss and wonering if i could put a regular bolt in instead of that cheap plug that skidoo has. does anybody know what size if this is possible?

are you refering to the fill level plug/ bolt? if so I dont think so i'm pretty sure its a special thread of some sort.

It's a pipe thread, prolly 1/8. The OEM plug is also magnetic. If it were me I'd replace it with another OEM one.

I wouldnt. Its a magnet, keeps the tiny metal shavings out of the chaincase oil.

1/8 pipe plug works great. I use a brass one with a hex head on it. I believe its 5/16 hex. If your concerned you can glue a magnet to the plug

What's "cheap" about the Doo plug? Other than needing a somewhat obscure socket to properly remove it (Snap-On PP409), I don't find it cheap at all.
